Armed with his trademark melodicism, his squad, and a bottle of Henny, Ripp Flamez takes to the late-night Cleveland streets in his video for “Forever,” the opening track on his new album DayOne Forever. Considered the deepest and most personal song on his project, Ripp opens up about his father passing while in jail and his brother getting free. “I miss my homies, I miss my pops,” explains Ripp. “While I’m not on a mainstream level yet, in my life, my world, my city, I’m considered successful. I’ve waited all my life for this and the people I want to share it with aren’t here to share it. Normally, the intro track is overlooked but this song is especially important to me so I wanted to make a dope visual for it.”

Wei Zhongle was born in a midwestern oasis, out of a love of traditional Chinese court music and general esotericism. Now they make pop music. Led by guitarist & vocal gymnast Rob Jacobs, Wei Zhongle has had four differing line-ups over five albums released with avant-taste-makers like NNA Tapes, Hairy Spider Legs, and New Atlantis. Through relentless touring and an arcane intuitiveness, their sounds have evolved from the angular meditations of their self-titled debut to the murky architecture of Raised High/Brought Low to the hypnotic ecstasy of Nu Trance. Along the way, they’ve picked up glowing endorsements from The Wire, Consequence of Sound, Impose, The Quietus, Tiny Mix Tapes, and others.
Get a behind the scenes look as BROADSIDE preps, sets up, and completely overthrows the stage at this year’s Vans Warped Tour with their latest music video, “The Simple Type.” Shot on location in Virginia Beach, VA and Syracuse, NY, the song comes from their latest release Old Bones, available now.
Hailed by Aquarian Weekly as “easily the best rock band in New York City”, TEN TON MOJO is a band on the rise. Hip shaking rhythms blend hard rock, soulful blues and southern charm to create the “new” classic rock.
The band recently released their brand new single and music video, “American Honey”. You can watch the music video, directed by guitarist Gabe Mera and edited by Orlando Ferreyra (with additional live and outdoor footage by FTO Media, John Valenti and Joe Cutraer), here:
Since 2011, Steady Legend has been entertaining audiences in Austin as well as the state of Texas. Two years after the release of their debut album in 2015, the band is preparing to release their second album “Chapter Two” in January 2017.
Lead single “Every Little Thing” is a funky pop number featuring driving horns and the sweet but powerful vocals of lead singer Deb Love. Building up with an intro that feels like a pep rally and ending with a Motown-style breakdown, the sound is a small taste of what’s to come on the upcoming record. “Every Little Thing” is set to be release on August 5th, everywhere.
This fall the Denton, TX-based band Rodney Parker & 50 Peso Reward will be releasing their long awaited follow-up to their last two studio EPs (The Apology: Parts 1 & 2). Entitled Bomber Heights the singer-songwriter-guitarist is also joined by original 50 Peso Reward bandmembers Brooks Kendall (bass) and Danny Skinner (guitar, banjo), as well as a number of other great collaborations of friends old and new. These include Zach Galindo (lead guitarist on all previous RP50PR records), Gabriel Pearson and Hank Early (both current members of Turnpike Troubadours), drummer Grady Don Sandlin (RTB2, Raised Right Men), along with Daniel Creamer (Jonathan Tyler), Andy Rogers (Raised Right Men) and Adrian Hulet (formerly of Oso Closo). Renowned producer Matt Pence (Centro-Matic, Justin Townes Earle) worked his magic on the record.
Like the changing of the days in Belfast, Beauty Sleep’s new single is very much in a different season to the bands debut back in winter, suitably named ‘The Dark’. As the days are significantly longer right now, new single and sophomore effort ‘Living Right’ drives away from the melancholy tones and melodies of the bands debut effort whilst keeping the dreamy, chorus infused guitars and hazy vocals that are becoming a trademark for this Northern Irish export.

While all times are good times to chill, August in the northern hemisphere of planet earth is by far the best time sit back, relax and sip a tasty adult beverage by the nearest natural or human made body of water, regardless of local rules and regulations. Jeff and Philo certainly understand this. The two electronic artists brought some real laid back grooves to the excellent Oh, Be Clever track, “Love You Now” in their uber blissed out remix. I can practically taste the mojito while enjoying this jam. It has been noted that the track sounds like it was “scientifically designed to force you to chill.” We most assuredly and enthusiastically agree.
Brooklyn’s, Lost Boy ? releases track Goose Wazoo

Jacob Moore ‘From Above’
Like a pleasant gust of wind on a hot day, Jacob Moore is drifting into the limelight with ‘From Above’, a pretty taste of his forthcoming EP All In Time.
Taking time to finely hone his craft; Jacob has merely tested the waters when it comes to his musical endeavours. Fusing 50s barbershop nostalgia and modern soul is not an easy feat, but this is the sonic identity that best describes Jacobs’ previous soft releases ‘Infinity’ and ‘Something in the Water’. Recently Jacob has been hard at work, recruiting a slew of musicians to form his live band, which will be revealed in the coming months, as well as putting the finishing touches on his debut EP at Studios 301 with Jack Prest (Flume, The Preatures, Action Bronson).

“I’m at a juncture in my career and my life where the many threads of my experience have come together,” says Jono Manson. “And I hope that makes for a good story.”
It does. And Jono tells that story, brilliantly and unforgettably, on The Slight Variations—a record that’s literally been a lifetime in the making. Jono Manson will release The Slight Variations on October 14, 2016.
At its core, Variations is an amalgamation of ideas and genres that span Manson’s four-plus decades in the music industry, a time that’s seen the musician lauded equally as a songwriter, performer, sideman, recording engineer and producer—as well as a godfather of the New York music scene of the mid-1980s that produced the likes of Joan Osborne, Blues Traveler, The Holmes Brothers and the Spin Doctors.

The epitome of laid back Cali cool with blissed-out production from STANDOUTMUSIK, “Different Day” is a highlight from Demrick’s sophomore album, Collect Call, released on June 24th through 10 Stripe Records.

In celebration of its twentieth year as a group, NEGURĂ BUNGET will release its new album, ZI, on September 30 via Prophecy Productions.
ZI (English for “Day” or “Say”) is the second part of NEGURĂ BUNGET’s ambitious “Transylvanian Trilogy”, released on the heels of 2015’s celebrated album, TĂU (English for “Your” or “Thy”), a record accurately hailed as “earthshaking” as it focused on unique native, natural landscapes and the mystique, legends, lore and meanings behind them.
Skux is a new project led by Ayisha Jaffer and written in collaboration with The Death Set’s Dan Walker. “Skux” is also a New Zealand slang term for “gangster.”
Born from a love of punk and Jaffer’s life-long admiration of the riot grrrl movement, the duo’s debut release is two-track, double A-side single called The Two Sides of She. Made up of “On Her Way” — a song about the traveling woman who works hard, plays hard, and never settles — and “More Than 10 Things” — which puts a twist on the poem featured in ’90s cult-favorite 10 Things I Hate About You — The Two Sides of She represents two different, but very real, sides of one personality.
Every week Chicago emcee, Dreezy, has delivered. If you were looking to wind down to a slow groove, she brought you “Body” featuring Jeremih. Now, following the release of her debut album “No Hard Feelings” she brings fans, perhaps the best surprise yet, a video with none other than the King of Trap himself, Gucci Mane. Check out the her new video “We Gon Ride” featuring Gucci Mane.
About “Super Powers,” Lil Durk told Billboard: “The vibe was so crazy, in a good way, when I made this song,” the Chicago rapper, 23, tells Billboard. “I had just moved to Los Angeles. [Producer] Young Chop and his mom (RIP Momma Chop!) had stopped by my house to visit. Chop was moving at the time so he had his equipment in the car. We start talking about music and he told me how he wasn’t really making beats anymore and that he was rapping more. I convinced him to go to car and get his equipment. He made the ‘Super Powers’ track that day from scratch then I just laid the track later on that night.”

KATIE ROSE “FEEL”
The pain and frustration of feeling misunderstood resonates like a drum beating over and over in the back of the head. Sometimes taking a risk is the strongest way to make a statement, and that’s exactly what Charleston singer-songwriter Katie Rose does on her latest single, “Feel.” The song is off of her debut EP, Everything Yesterday, due out on August 19. Fiery and unapologetic, “Feel” grooves with a heart-thumping hip-hop backbone and an electronic keyboard that accompany Rose’s prominent testament.

Up-and-coming Country vocalist Denny Strickland’s “Get A Grip” lyric video premieres today on THE BOOT. The visually-enticing clip, created by Buz-Videos, ably mirrors the lyrics with deftly applied effects. Pulsating and colorful, the images are mesmerizing.

Suken gives Bastion’s “Another Universe” a fresh rework
French electronic duo Bastion dazzles with its iridescent release “Another Universe,” a funky, slick dance track that has attracted the attention of remixer Suken. In his hands, the song dials down, trading the byzantine grandeur for more nuanced, crystalline synth. Retaining the sparkle of Katelyn Tarver’s vocals, Suken’s remix is a fresh interpretation of a masterful work. Released on Bastion’s label Sexy Brut, in preparation for his upcoming EP.

Alternative Press are streaming the new ISLANDER album Power Under Control, a day before its release. “I’ve never been so honored to be a part of music,” confesses frontman Mikey Carvajal. “I truly believe this is the album that the world needs right now. The youth are tired of bands not writing their own songs and they are tired of no one speaking up for what’s really going on. Rock and roll is supposed to be dangerous, and Power Under Control is far from safe.”

Today, Tennis shared a new track “Ladies Don’t Play Guitar” with Stereogum. Stereogum describes “Moore’s voice is as melodious as ever, and the song itself has that classic Tennis pep in its step. It’s perfect for catching sun on the high seas, but is also much needed social commentary on the expectations placed on female musicians.”

The band’s latest video “My Man” was premiered by Noisey who applauded Natalie Carol’s vocals with “tones that shiver in all the perfect places” and praised the song “that smacks of rolling hills and freeform dancing, a kind of pop imbued with Laurel Canyons vapors and alt country angles and a top down free spiritedness.”
Video for new single “Alleyways” premiered at City Arts Magazine.
A-Trak has teamed back up with Tommy Trash for “Lose My Mind,” a feel-good, satin jacket jam for our crazy times. These DJ heroes have slowed down the tempo and turned up the bump, ticking all boxes for “groove” in the process: distorted bass riffs, vintage vocals, and a Travolta-worthy disco strut. They even got French legend Alex Gopher to mix it down for that extra magic.
She told GoldFlakePaint why she decided to cover the track: I love a lot of music from the 60s and Build Me Up (Buttercup) is an obvious classic from that era. The transformation that the song took really caught me off guard. It’s now clear to me that the original lyrics & chord structure exist as such a stark dichotomy. The happy, fun chords expertly mask the sombre message; it’s the song everyone gets up to dance & sing along to in celebration, even (ironically) at weddings. I had never considered it from this perspective before.
Rising indie pop sensation Kathryn Dean has teamed up with PopDust to premiere the stunning new music video for her single, “City of Angels.” Recently spending three weeks as the #1 indie record in the US on the Independent AC Chart, “City of Angels” is a first look into Kathryn’s forthcoming full length album produced by Chris Seefried (Andra Day, Lana Del Rey, Fitz and the Tantrums, etc) and set to drop this fall. Kathryn Dean is also on tour this month with 80s pop phenom Tiffany, with tickets available now.
Armed with her unique perspective, musical integrity and soul bearing vocals, Kathryn Dean’s distinct sound has immense depth and intelligence both lyrically and musically. Her delivery tells her unique stories in a way that has the innate ability to inspire and impact in a real, beautiful authentic way. A trait most artists strive for, but very few achieve.
You probably remember Black Dada from his smash hit “Imma Zoe” and the remix featuring Brian “Baby” Williams and Rick Ross. He went on a hiatus from the lime light for a while after terminating his deal with Universal Republic and chose to stay behind the scenes. In this time he penned songs for the likes of Gloria Estefan collaborated with Dr. Dre, Scott Storch and many other domestic and international artists.
Adult Karate is KC Maloney, half of the gauze-and-gossamer duo Radar Cult. Though Radar Cult’s sound is fairly spartan, Adult Karate takes the use of empty space even further, hollowing out the skeleton of electronic music- house, techno, ambient—until only the memory is left. These songs are imprints on an empty bed, images on a burial shroud; a wisp of something gone, its impression indelible. Recently signed to Los Angeles-based label Plug Research (Flying Lotus, Bilal, Dntel), he comes to the label building in intensity his cryptic ruminations, diffused into a sea-spray of synth decay, sparse percussion, pitched-down vocals, and Spaghetti western guitar. His debut EP, ‘LXII’ is set for an August 19th release date on Plug Research, and today he shared his hilariously, light hearted video for “So Low” via The WILD Magazine. The video is an oddball tale of trying to find connection between two strangers who have very damaged views on love, sex, and relationships.
Bayou-born soul sensation, Durand Jones, is bringing his raw energy to Colemine Records with his debut self-titled LP. Jones brings you fiery original soul music, pairing soaring vocal work with dusty drums, slinking guitars and screaming organs.

Set for release on October 21st via the band’s own label, Zoo Music, they preview Dreamless with infectious lead single & opening track ‘Telepathic Lover’. Comprised of best friends Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell, Crocodiles have earned their place as one of the United States’ most engaging, hardworking and consistent rock and roll bands of the past few years. Dreamless is the pair’s sixth LP, and is, at once, their most exploratory and focused release.
ABC and dick clark productions announced today that the “2016 American Music Awards,” the world’s biggest fan-voted award show, will broadcast live on Sunday, November 20 (8:00–11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC.
Last year opposite big NFL-driven competition on the evening, including NBC’s Sunday Night Football and an NFL overrun-boosted Fox, the “2015 American Music Awards” drove ABC to season highs on the night and made it No. 1 among entertainment programming in the 3-hour time period with Total Viewers (11.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.5/10).
Soto Voce share the video for “Better”, a commanding, politically charged visual accompaniment to their debut single. Set against a stark, desert backdrop, the clip was directed by Tyler Oliver and taps into the zeitgeist of America right now. The LA based duo (via Oakland and Columbia) of Kenny Soto and Miguel de Vivo have arguably made one of the most important videos of the year.

With the EP about to make its parole into society, No Clean Singing is now streaming Heavy Metal Suicide, issuing in part of BLEACH EVERYTHING’s side, “their three tracks adhere to the philosophy that less is more – these are short, explosive flurries of bare-knuckled battering,” and offering that THE INFAMOUS GEHENNA’s tracks, “manifest different sides of this band’s violent, hate-filled blend of metal and hardcore,” and, “will indeed fuck you up.”
MYZICA – the Nashville, TN-based duo of producer Micah Tawlks and singer Isaaca Byrd – today premiered their new song “We Belong Together” via Consequence Of Sound, which wrote the track features “…a rainbow of synths that glow brightly and reassure; there’s also a hefty helping of funky guitar and bass, which helps to place “We Belong Together” in Carly Rae Jepsen and Dev Hynes’ squad of synthpop (with a hint of Madonna)”.
