A-1 “GOOD PEOPLE” VIDEO

Life can move so fast that it’s hard to stop and appreciate those that populate our surroundings. Described by FACT Mag as “a smooth-as-hell groover that explores stereotypes and assumptions,” “Good People” is the latest music video from rising Bay area rapper, A-1. “Good People” is a unique visual experience filmed on a phantom camera at 1400fps. The special effect created by this technique shows people standing in a frozen state as the camera continuously moves from the sunny streets of San Francisco to the bustling energy of Oakland bus stops. The video is the latest offering from A-1’s upcoming album Thurlian, releasing March 5, 2015.

WILLODEAN “GLASS BOTTOM BOAT”

Willodean isn’t a mainstream moniker. It’s an anachronistic name, one for a band that chronicles longing, loneliness, and lost loves.

Willodean’s self-titled debut album exposes someone as afraid of finding love as losing it. Dan Barrett’s gravelly baritone has a toughness suited to — maybe rooted in — the vulnerability of the lyrics. Producer Eric Holden’s upright bass resonates with sturdy, near-ancient melodies. Guitarist/pianist Randy Wooten’s lyrics evoke a dreamy world of misgiving and missed chances.

Yet the band discovers a playfulness in the songs, a confounding curveball that makes the album fun.

Sons Of Texas was spawned in McAllen, Texas, a valley town without the music legacy of Austin or Arlington. Sons Of Texas solidified in 2013 around a lineup of local all-stars. The group is Mark Morales, vocals, Mike Villarreal, drums, Nick Villarreal, bass, Jon Olivarez, rhythm guitar, and Jes De Hoyos, lead guitar.

BEAR’S DEN’S “AGAPE” VIDEO STREAMING WORLDWIDE AT VEVO

Shot on Bantham Beach on a blustery January day, the video explores the theme of a relationship’s demise. Of the concept Kevin Jones (vocals, drums) explains “I thought slowly sinking into the sand only to be engulfed in waves summed that up well, the feeling of inevitability brought on by your own thoughts and the sensation of restriction that can manifest itself in those situations. The song is quite bright musically but I wanted to think of something that counterpointed that and fell in line more with the lyrics than the music.”

CROSS MY HEART HOPE TO DIE VIDEO “TWO SHOTS”

Admittedly, the combination of DJ Muggs (Cypress Hill) and Andrew Kline (Strife) may sound strange to some. From two very different musical backgrounds, however, come two gifted producers with similar interests in pushing the creative boundaries of music.
