His sultry voice and slick style nods towards the likes of Rag’n’Bone Man and Sam Smith but captures his own rock n’ roll flair derived from his younger years spent fronting rock bands. Alt-Country Rockers Massy Ferguson to Release New Disc April 19th
For more than a dozen years, Massy Ferguson have proudly planted their boots on both sides of the country-rock divide, carving out their own brand of amplified Americana along the way. Based in Seattle, they’ve become international torchbearers of a sound that’s distinctly American, with a touring history that spans nine different countries. On their fifth album, Great Divides, they double down on their rock & roll roots, mixing bar-band twang with raw, guitar-driven bang. Gluing those sounds together is the songwriting partnership of bass-playing frontman Ethan Anderson and guitarist Adam Monda, whose songs spin stories of small-town adolescence, big-city adulthood, and the long miles of highway that stretch between.

Comprised of former Disappears members Brian Case & Noah Leger and longtime friend Alianna Kalaba (Cat Power, We Ragazzi), FACS occupy a liminal space bordering the realms of art-rock, shoegaze, industrial music, and post-rock, applying minimalism and spaciousness in service of stark, forboding compositions. Lifelike adds a melodic sensibility to the greyscale post-punk aesthetic established on their 2018 debut album Negative Houses without sacrificing any of their punishing sonic heft characteristic of their live shows, yielding early praise from Stereogum, Noisey, and Brooklyn Vegan among others.
