Afrojack and Thomas Gold Give the House Treatment to Nicky Romero & Stadiumx’s Country-Inspired “Rise”

Nicky Romero’s ventured into new territory by releasing his country-inspired release “Rise” with Stadiumx featuring Matluck back in August. Now the track has received two huge remixes from dance music legends Afrojack and Thomas Gold. Each version has a unique take on the song’s upbeat rhythms and organic instrumentals: Afrojack turns up the heat with his signature driving house basslines and dynamic percussion that turns “Rise” into a hard-hitting club track, while Thomas Gold’s melodic approach creates a dancefloor-friendly, uplifting experience reminiscent of festival progressive anthems. Both versions keep the soulful and heartfelt lyrics, ensuring that “Rise” keeps its inspiring essence. The Afrojack’s and Thomas Gold’s remixes are out on Nicky Romero’s imprint Protocol Recordings, which has been exploring new avenues of sound recently by incorporating various music genres into their productions.

Calum Scott shares ‘A Coming Out Story’ via Vevo for #NationalComingOutDay

Calum Scott was a finalist on the UK’s performance show ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ and thanks to a powerful voice, great songs, and passionate performance style, he’s parlayed it into global acclaim. We’ve previously had him in for a solo performance of “What I Miss Most,” a tribute to his hometown of Hull and a valentine to the way his community there grounds him whenever he feels adrift. This time ’round we spent time with Scott as he recounted a painful part of his young adult life – processing the complex emotions of being a gay teen and letting the world around him aware of his sexual orientation. Friends abandoned him early on, and it hurt. But in a poignant profile, he says he found the courage to be honest about himself through music. “I know that there are people young and old struggling with the same questions, and living with that relentless fear and heartbreak. I make the music I do because I want to inspire the right kind of conversations. If one less kid can grow up without hiding who they are along the way or having to believe that who they love is something that will make them lonely, then everything I went through will be worth it.”

New single from LA’s Sean Pawling

The ghostly quality of “San Simeon” takes the listener on an eerie tour through an abandoned, rocky California coast. Above, the golden sun sets behind a purple mountain skyline. Below, shadows of the town form distorted shapes on the orange sand. The combination of light and dark, both visually and musically, is the balance needed for the story to fully come to life. Pounding drums thump like a beating heart, jumping as the song turns each haunting corner, while vocals “ooh” and “ahh” like a ghostly figure tempting the listener to follow. According to Pawling, the song paints a picture of a party of ghosts along the desolate Central California Coast. Vivid imagery, crunchy synthesizer, and delicate falsetto make this dream a reality.
