Laura LaValle “NOW” Music Video
The music video features beautiful cinematography and great choreography including the dance talent of Michael Silas, former back-up dancer for Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey. The production team behind Lady Gaga helped produce the music video for “NOW”. It was shot the day after a huge fire took place on location in the Santa Clarita area. This makes for a very bleak landscape, giving the video a nice contract, which portrays the message and story behind “NOW”. “NOW” will be featured on Laura’s forthcoming LP release due out in 2017.

Enigmatic Japanese Powerviolence Devastators To Release “I&II” On February 17
San Francisco Bay Area darkness-obsessed DIY indie label Sentient Ruin Laboratories is extremely proud and honored to announce the release of I&II – a full-length release from elusive and mysterious experimental powerviolence terrorists Friendship (also known as the Friendship Collective). I&II is a compilation of tracks previously self-released by the band as two separate EPs (the I EP and the II EP) now both condensed by Sentient Ruin into a single castigating long player of maximum auditive torture. The I&II compilation/album masterfully showcases the full extent of the band’s absurd formula: a maelstrom of bleak and punishing powerviolence/grind ferocity colliding with the suffocating weight of the most abject sludge-doom, and further enhanced by the iconic and completely mindless approach to extreme metal and punk which has always characterized Japanese bands as being the most absurd and unpredictable out there.

Odeko new Gobstopper Records 12″
Bath-based producer Odeko returns to Mr. Mitch’s blossoming Gobstopper imprint with a new two-track single, following a 2016 that saw the label release EPs from mainstay Loom and Irish duo CLU, as well as Odeko’s debut record, ‘A History With Samus’.
Deeply idiosyncratic, Odeko’s sound references a variety of themes without ever feeling bound by any and on ‘Digital Botanics’, he takes this bright, one-of-a-kind sound design to new heights. Subtle trap patterns provide the foil for gloopy, toy-like melodies to glide over the top, spiked by short bursts of growling, industrial noise.

First night reviews from Ft Lauderdale called it “…a full-throttle, devil-may-care performance that thrilled a sold-out BB&T Center” (Sun Sentinel) with Revolver magazine reporting how the band’s legendary mascot Eddie dominated the Maya-themed stage: “From a walking zombie towering over band members during the set, to being featured on a host of back-drops and huge blow-up figures – the quintessential symbol was omnipresent for the entire show” including Eddie having his heart literally ripped out of his chest and hurled into the crowd by singer Bruce Dickinson!
OHHMS: debut album “The Fool” out March 31
After two successful EP releases on Holy Roar Records, British heavy progressive five-piece OHHMS return with their debut album “The Fool”, due out March 31st on Holy Roar Records.
OHHMS have developed a loyal following amongst those that love their rock sludge-fueled, progressive, heavy and intense. Spanning the course of sixty minutes, “The Fool” delivers five thunderous songs that focus on corporate and personal politics, taking their lyrical cues from the likes of Crass and politically-charged hardcore punk, all the while wrapping these critical themes in elegant tarot-inspired packaging courtesy of Italy’s Black Sails Design.

Turkish synth-pop band Jakuzi sign to City Slang
Jakuzi, an Istanbul-based Turkish-language synth-pop band formed around the core-duo of Kutay Soyocak on vocals and Taner Yücel on bass and synths, will be releasing their debut album ‘Fantezi Müzik’ via City Slang on 24th March 2017. Today they share their first track “Koca Bir Saçmalik”, a synth-disco hit which deals lyrically with the themes of disappointment, sacrifice and anger. You can watch and share the accompanying VHS-style music video, which has already accrued close to 100K views following its Turkish release.
Jakuzi don’t sound like any other band out there right now. Their debut album ‘Fantezi Müzik’ could be described as a lo-fi pop masterpiece from a faraway time, place and perhaps an alternate universe. Think David Bowie having a fever dream in Turkey, Depeche Mode stranded at the Bosporus… but at the end of the day they just sound completely like themselves.
Leon Of Athen’s ‘Xenos’

Allman Brown New Single “Sweetest Thing”
1000 Years was cut with longtime friend and producer Ian Barter (Paloma Faith, Izzy Bizzu), and represents an artist exploring his past, present and future with an ever-expanding set of musical tools anchored by a beautiful, rich and distinctive voice. While “Sweetest Thing” might be more straightforward acoustic guitar-driven pop, songs like “Palms” represent a sojourn into the world of soft and subtle electronica, while never losing the emotional punch of the folk-influenced works of his previous material, which is influenced by like-minded artists such as Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens and Bombay Bicycle Club.
WHY? Shares “Proactive Evolution” Via SPIN
While WHY? fans will certainly encounter familiar sounds on Moh Lhean — Wolf’s sour-sweet croon, deadpan poet’s drawl, and ear for stunningly fluid arrangements with obsessive attention to detail — the album also reveals that a transformation has taken place. The singer’s self-depricating swagger and cynical squint is replaced by a sense of peace in the unknowing; his wry smirk traded in for a holy shrug. This cosmic sense of calm and acceptance woven throughout the album is due in part to Wolf’s circumstances during the writing process: he suffered a severe health scare far from home, but rather than let it drive him to depression, he gained a stronger connection to the living. Album track “Proactive Evolution,” which features mewithoutYou’s Aaron Weiss, even samples Wolf’s doctors — the very voices that helped shape his new outlook.

D.A. Stern – “Miami”
D.A. Stern shares his first video from Aloha Hola in the form of this Albert Brooks inspired gem ahead of the records release via Two Syllables on January 27. In D.A. Stern’s own words…
“I am a huge Albert Brooks fan and Real Life might be my favorite of his movies. It’s basically about a filmmaker, played by Brooks, who plans to make a feature out of footage he shoots of a real American family during their day-to-day lives; naturally, everything goes wrong. The hilarious and beautiful montage that occurs during one of the family’s happier spells depicts a typical all-American family living an all-American dream in slow-motion, yet we are aware that this is not the truth. Beneath all of the smiles, ice cream cones, and board games, this family is being pushed to their limits by a selfish man with a vision. The idea that not everything is as it seems and that things are different below the surface ties directly into what the song Miami is about.”

ALEX DEZEN ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF SECOND SOLO ALBUM
It’s official. The Damnwells are done. “It was an amazing run,” says Alex Dezen of the band for which he was the lead singer. “But it’s time to move on.” 16 years, 5 albums, and countless miles later, Dezen is finally stepping out on his own with his second solo album in two years. Truth be told, the tenuous formation which has carried the Damnwells moniker over the last decade and a half has always featured Dezen’s voice and songs front and center. Both 2007’s One Last Century and 2010’s No One Listens to the Band Anymore employed a wide net of musicians and friends, often without founding members Steven Terry, Ted Hudson, and David Chernis. So, in many ways, II, the second solo album from Damnwells frontman, is just a continuation of what Dezen has been doing his entire career. Only it isn’t that at all.
GARMIANI DROPS FREE DOWNLOAD OF HIS LONG AWAITED AXWELL /\ INGROSSO REMIX

Since forming in 2014, the duo has taken the world by storm with headline shows, killer tunes and a sort of omnipresence across every radio station on the planet.

New York native, Bill Scorzari, is set to independently release his sophomore album, Through These Waves, on March 10, 2017. In a recent interview with No Depression, Tolchin calls Bill Scorzari, “one of the greatest songwriters I’ve ever heard.” With sincere and robust lyrics, Scorzari’s raspy vocals usher the listener breezily into his world.
Joining Scorzari on the album are Joachim Cooder (drums, percussion), Laur Joamets (electric guitar, slide guitar), Chris Scruggs (steel guitar), Will Kimbrough (mandolin, piano), Eamon McLoughlin (fiddle, viola, cello), Jon Estes (upright bass, guitar, organ), Kim Richey (vocals), Brent Burke (dobro) and more.

Continuing in their fight for justice, equality and progress for LGBTQ women, indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara brought more than 50 LGBTQ women together in Hollywood on Wednesday to launch a coordinated fight for equality in economic status, health and representation.
The first of its kind, the convening was a natural next step for the recently launched Tegan and Sara Foundation that was established last fall following a nationwide “listening and learning tour” in which they met with LGBTQ youth, researchers, legislators and nonprofits at the forefront of the LGBTQ community. Tegan and Sara were shocked and saddened to learn that “LGBTQ women and girls were feeling overwhelmingly rejected and left behind.”
Chicano Batman says “FREEDOM IS FREE”
Chicano Batman closed out the year announcing a new album and tour and the LA quartet begin 2017 with the release of “Freedom Is Free”, the title track to their upcoming LP, out March 3 on ATO Records.
“Freedom Is Free” is an inspirational credo from the psych-soul outfit at an all too apripos time. FLOOD agrees that, “the song’s sweetness, the ease with which it unfolds along that provocative bassline, suggests both the inevitability of its message and the band’s confidence in it.”

Sauce Factory member and Taylor Gang signee Sosamann injects Texas street rap with an appealing dose of gonzo wordplay, buoyant personality, and broad humor. Riding a glistening trap production courtesy Atlanta sound architects Nard & B and XL, Sosamann elevates his game on “Sauce Savage,” refining his caterwaul to rhythmic perfection. Joined by Sauce Factory associate Sancho Saucy, Sosamann welcomes an unlikely guest in 21 Savage, the notoriously taciturn Atlanta upstart. Check out the new Ta’East video for “WithTheShit” directed by Jerome D (Kendrick Lamar, Goldink, Ty Dollar $ign). The track, taken from his debut EP Ok, I’m Ready, is available now via RCA / Benji B’s new label Deviation Music.
In Ta’s own words: “The concept of the WithTheShit visual is true to life, in a sense it’s art imitating life. I was at a period in life when I was doing something that I didn’t want to do and it was like a dark presence following me until I realized I needed to step into my purpose. When Jerome decided to come on board to shoot the visual, he understood the concept of the record and nailed it.”

“This song is about having a friend pass away and still keeping them fondly in your mind to the point where you show up to their house forgetting that they’re no longer there. It’s about struggling to keep up with the people you love when you’re away and how to be/how it feels to not be there for them when they need you most.” – Cam Boucher
Hypoluxo Share New Video for “Fronts” via FLOOD
If there is a soundtrack to our unconsciousness, then it must be calm enough not to wake us up, even-keeled and instinctive, static enough not to distract our dreams but dynamic enough to maneuver us through it, automatic and limitless—it must wander so that we might wander with it. Certainly, this describes’s Hypoluxo’s hypnotic, nodding melodies; on If Language, their first full-length, the band creates a soundscape in which one can escape, choose to completely lose oneself, or maybe just bob with the waves.

Roger Street Friedman “Shoot The Moon”
Shoot The Moon is Roger Street Friedman’s just-completed album, out January 13, 2017, from The Playroom Records. Shoot The Moon, co-produced by the artist and Felix McTeigue (co-writer of Florida Georgia Line’s #1 hit “Anything Goes” and Americana chart topper and Grammy-nominated “Wreck You” by Lori McKenna), is the result of a concerted woodshedding effort following Friedman’s debut album, 2014’s critically lauded The Waiting Sky.
Friedman, now 54, lives in a small Long Island town and re-started his career in music in 2010 following the loss of his parents and the birth of his daughter. He told USA Today, “It’s never too late to make a change, to take your life in a direction that brings you joy and closer to realizing your dreams.”
With Shoot The Moon, he’s making up for lost time in a very palpable way. “It was scary,” he says of his decision to make music his full time pursuit, adding, “I had gotten to a point where, to be myself, I had to give music everything I had.” And he’s done just that with the new project, most of which he premiered live on his recent “World Tour Of Los Angeles.” He brought his band, Frank Ferrara (guitar), Jim Toscano (drums), Matt Schneider (bass) and Concetta Abatte (fiddle/vocals) who are heard on the album, to four Southern California venues over the course of four days in connection with the YoubloomLA Music Summit and Festival.

“Dan Hicks is an American Treasure,” so says Elvis Costello and perhaps half of the music world who worshiped Dan and his timeless tunes. Dan Hicks created a pioneering blend of hipster jazz, gypsy swing and country that still resonates as strongly today as it did when Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks came roaring onto the scene with their unique, genre-bending sound in the late ’60s — when rock was getting louder, Dan threw it back to a simpler time.
As we mark the first anniversary of his passing (February 6th) Surfdog Records is paying tribute to the legend of Dan Hicks with a compilation album in celebration of his life and legacy. Greatest Licks – I Feel Like Singin’ is set for vinyl & CD release, as well as digital, on February 24, 2017 with pre-orders available now.

Marty Grimes – “As Long As I Got”
A renowned local business owner and entrepreneur in the East Bay, music is only one of Marty Grimes’ many hustles. On “As Long As I Got,” Marty embraces his role as the breadwinner for his family, making money to feed his parents and his five younger brothers. Gracefully tiptoeing over an ethereal, Clams Casino-esque stomp, Marty spits two revealing verses, professing his love for his family and opening up about balancing music and business. The track comes to a head at the smoothly sung chorus, as Marty expresses thanks for all he has: “As long as I got/a little we could turn it to a lot/so I think we gon’ be alright.” Premiered by REVOLT, “As Long As I Got” is the third single from his upcoming project Martyjuana, following the Mass Appeal-premiered “Doin’ Thangs” and the breezy “All Good.” Named after Marty’s designer marijuana company, Martyjuana releases on January 27th.

Christian Correnti to drop new Video
Emmecosta had a particularly busy 2015. After breaking through with debut single Brontos which Clash accurately described as ‘post-club’, the trio from Gothenburg have been paving their own soundtrack to that time when it’s too late to go to bed, but too early to get up.
Then end of 2015 saw the guys release Snowboy, followed by being asked to open for Chimes and playing a slot at the Rockaway Beach Festival alongside Young Fathers and Ghostpoet. The stage was seemingly set.
Astro Tan’s just-released track “Duck Fat”
Astro Tan is a three-piece out of Portland, OR, who hail from opposing corners of the continent; they call rural Pennsylvania, urban Seattle, and remote Alaska their homes, respectively. Perhaps their trans-continental allows for what is a genre-bending songbook that places foot in no strict stylistic camp. With primary songwriting responsibilities oscillating between Charles Tern and Sam Wegman (bass and guitars) and an exacting drummer in Jed Overly (also a songwriter), their aim is a fresh take on what they call R&A/B – or rhythm & Americana blues.
James Gardin “Promise Land” (prod. by Terem)
Michigan rapper James Gardin dances over Terem’s soulful production on his new single “Promise Land”.
James had this to say about the song, “Many people feel like they have a purpose, but not all of them actually believe they can fulfill it. Promise Land is an anthem of encouragement to that person who has let life either discourage, and or detour them. So play this song and let your Faith be rejuvenated so you can avoid turning a 12 day trip into a 40 year quest.”
Sondre Lerche Announces New LP, New Video Via Noisey
Today Noisey has premiered the video for Sondre Lerche’s newest single entitled “Soft Feelings”. It was directed by Johannes Greve Muskat and shot on 16mm film. The video also has cameos by Tom Krell from How To Dress Well and Norwegian artist Ary. When speaking about “Soft Feelings” Sondre said, “I liked the idea of a man on the verge of an identity crisis, alone in LA. A noir-portrait of the man and the city over the course of a lost weekend of isolation and ambivalence. If the previous video, I’m Always Watching You, was Rear Window, Soft Feelings is Vertigo, with all its clues, symbolism and obsessiveness.” Sondre Lerche will embark on both a European and U.S. tour starting next week. His new album ‘Pleasure’ will be out on 4/14.
West Virginia country songwriter William Matheny premieres riotous “29 Candles”
The best storytellers often aren’t the ones who have had the wildest experiences; they’re the ones who have experienced things we all have, and can articulate them in a way we haven’t yet figured out ourselves. They give us a new vocabulary for talking about ourselves and our world. That’s the gift William Matheny presents to us.
Kodacrome Release Hand-Built Marionette Music Video for “Oh, You Two”
Brooklyn electronic duo Kodacrome [Elissa LeCoque (synth/vocals) & Ryan Casey (synth/drum machine)] have released their intricate hand-built marionette music video for “Oh, You Two,” which will be part of their third studio album.
One year ago, Kodacrome found themselves about 75% of the way through writing their third studio album, when they felt an urge to switch gears, and shift their focus to something more tangible. Though Elissa & Ryan are musicians first, they spent much of the last year constructing this 1/8 scale film set from wood, clay, metal and paint. The project hinged upon their background in set-building and film.

Inauguration Special: “You Can Be A Fascist Too” – Playboy Manbaby
The Guardian says: “Comedians have been quick to complain that the events of 2016 were “beyond satire”. But try telling that to Arizona circus punks Playboy Manbaby, who have successfully skewered the rise of the alt-right with two-and-a-half minutes of faux-livid hollering – “I am right! I am correct! If you disagree with me I’ll get really upset!” – and a comedy trumpet solo.
