GNAW THEIR TONGUES To Issue ‘Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent’ LP
Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent shows GNAW THEIR TONGUES at the top of its game. The band started out as a studio project, but has recently started performing live, and it feels like this carefully found its way into the music. Yet, “oppressive,” “bleak,” and “claustrophobic” remain the key words when describing the unique output of this drone/noise/black metal infused miscreant of De Jong. The music grabs you by the throat and sucks all the air out of the room. Although it leaves little more than an anaerobe environment, the music itself feels likes it has been breathing and organically growing into this true beast of an album. Fully performed and recorded by Mories at the Bejaarde II, Drachten, the artist also mixing and mastering the album, Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent also features guest vocals on “Our Mouths Ridden With Worms” by Hekte Zaren.
FISTULA Dispatches “Serial Vapist”
“The day after that we recorded the entire album except for the two songs that didn’t have lyrics (‘Serial Vapist’ and ‘Sabbath Wants To Do A Split With Me’). Corey and I revisited some of our original ideas for The Shape Of Doom To Cumm))). The lyrics wrote themselves instantaneously. I worked in a record store for nine years, so writing lyrics to antagonize doom metal hipster dickheads was a fucking piece of cake, as a pretentious record nerd, I’ve been guilty of half of the shit I’m making fun of.”

Skinny Blonde “Go to Sleep”
Skinny Blonde began as the musical alias of 22-year-old New York student and resident Michael Turzilli, who took upbeat pop and turned it on its self-aware head. Skinny Blonde has since grown into a full band featuring Turzilli, Sam Farnum on Guitar, Troy Krusz on Bass and Jim Murtagh on Drums. All four members are fellow comedians and artists.
Often satirical in nature, Turzilli’s writing draws the line between taking ourselves too seriously and not taking ourselves seriously enough. He explores how quickly the artistic process can turn narcissistic, not leaving anyone free from critique – even himself.

Coastgaard Premieres New Single “Bloodlines” via Brooklyn Vegan
There is something timeless about the music of Coastgaard that, while playing to a listener’s sense of nostalgia, still feels fresh, current and innovative. On their sophomore release, Devil On The Balcony, the band has meticulously arranged dynamic chord progressions over immediately engaging rhythmic motifs, reminiscent of 50’s and 60’s rock and roll, to form the foundation of what will undoubtedly be a breakthrough record. Whether it be the blending of vintage and modern or the seamless integration of order and chaos, Coastgaard has found a special musical niche in their ability to merge what does not immediately seem compatible into something beautiful and inherently unique.
Citizen Of The World – ‘In The Moment’ Single
With their new song, ‘In The Moment’, Citizen of the World explore their Indie-Pop side while maintaining the Folk feel that has come to define the sound of the band. The new release a reflection on intense moments when “living in the present” seemed like a good idea; it’s a celebration of past times with a melancholy undertone.
Citizen of the World has built on the success of the foot stomping Folk-Rock genre, popularised by the likes of Mumford & Sons, to carve a new genre described by one competition judge as “Epic Folk.”
Noise rock duo consuumer premiere new single ‘radio’ with CLRVYNT
Raised in the claustrophobic backwaters of Hereford, young two-piece consuumer play a raucous set. Inspired by the sheer volume of Melvins, the raw power of the Stooges and the bleak doom of Sabbath, consuumer create a brutal, nihilistic sound, steeped in a raw energy and honesty that could shake even the most apathetic listener. With a huge string of UK live dates under their belt including a Birthday’s headline show and an acclaimed first single, the band are now ready to release their debut EP ‘Shattered Fruit’.
Trudy and the Romance blast out ramshackled new single ‘Sandman’
Fresh from their tour with The Big Moon, Trudy and the Romance unleash new cut ‘Sandman’, a rampaging track which sees the Liverpool trio further carving out their own lane.
Delivered with a twisted twinkle in their eyes, ‘Sandman’ is their boldest pop statement yet. Shout-along segments and wavy chord progressions add a driving pop character to their ostensibly slapdash but perfectly crafted song writing. A dash of northern soul (or is it Northern Songs?) inflects their rowdy rock and roll with a sentimental charm.

Mök announced the release of “Kamikaze Slug” EP
The abomination named Mök is back with a black metal crust punk infused mayhem, in it’s latest release Kamikaze Slug. Defiitely a great choice for the thirsty, and fiting perfectly for both stag parties and funerals alike. It will be released in a limited 50x edition on Snake Oil Kassettforlag later this autumn. For the time being, it can be streamed or bought through the most used services in the digital realm.
The EP consists of 4 tracks, the last track being an reissue from the 2012 album Mökamorphosis. As always, the band draws heavily from the metal tradition, and especially the second wave black metal inflences are obvious. Newer Darkthrone and traces of Mayhem comes to mind. “As in all our releases, we have straight forward rock ‘n roll attitude to what the music should sound and feel like. But now it is fircer, faster and with a heavier emphasis on a punchy groove.” That clearly pulls through on both song material and the production. Much of this drive can be tracked back to hardcore punk, and Swedish groups like Anti Cimex and Black Uniforms. These bands should be regarded as both sources of inspiration, and as proponents of the D-beat, widely used on Kamikaze Slug. Even though it is a DIY production from start to fiish, the sound of Kamikaze Slug is maybe more up to date than what you might expect, compared to the aesthetics of the idols.
XO video ‘Waiting Game’
Following the release of ‘Divine Disaster’ earlier this year, XO (Sunil Heera) returns with his new single ‘Waiting Game’, taken from his first full-length project due early 2017.
XO’s signature dark ethereal beats and warped R&B style flows through the ‘Waiting Game’, which also see him take centre stage on the vocal front. Naturally fitting for a deeply personal song- XO says ” The inspiration for “Waiting Game” came from a very raw, vulnerable place. I feel like I’m pushing boundaries and really letting my guard down to give the listeners a real piece of me for the first time”. ‘Waiting Game’ is a melancholic journey from start to finish, reflected in the video co-directed and shot by XO and Beck Clewlow.
Kjartan Sveinsson (ex-Sigur Rós) shares new music
Former Sigur Rós keyboardist Kjartan Sveisson has just shared the opening movement from his solo debut, a four act opera entitled Der Klang der Offenbarung des Göttlichen. Having played a pivotal role in the evolution of Sigur Rós’s sound, the opera represents a bold statement as a debut, but as Stereogum point out, “in keeping with Sveinsson’s musical history, the piece provides a familiar sense of orchestral uplift in the face of deep sadness.”
Termanology’s Producer Billy Loman Releases “Space Jams”
Boston-based producer Billy Loman delivers his first official beat tape with the debut of Space Jams, which sounds exactly as the title would suggest. With a stellar set of spaced-out bangers, the ST. Records beatmaker combines cosmic chops and loops with hard-hitting drums, resulting in beats that travel through smooth, grimey, futuristic and nostalgic sounds.
Space Jams arrives after Loman appeared on various projects from artists such as REKS and Ea$y Money, and produced the bulk of Termanology’s Shut Up and Rap album. He’s also working on his debut album, 9 to 5, which will drop some time next year.

Fresh off her European tour, DY drops a video for “Fly With Me”.
“This video is a collection of some of my favorite moments while on tour. It’s super simple, compared to my other videos, but it’s personal. I literally captured these moments with my GoPro. I’m happiest when I’m touring, connecting with people and creating new experiences through my music. I also love bringing people along through social media…this video gives a quick little glimpse of the fun parts of tour life and how dope it is when hip hop puts you in a position to live your dreams…”

LOCO-HOT – “I’M A TRIBE” (FT. A-WA) OUT NOW
he song was jump-started by Kahana’s English lyrics, which A-Wa translated into Yemenite – riding on a custom Muskat beat. Kahana says his words originated from the idea that humanity is one tribe – despite the fact that societies can seem fragmented. A-Wa agrees: “We wanted to remind people of the true essence of why we are here: Love and unity.”
The ‘drop’ (instrumental melody) was created by Muskat editing A-Wa’s voices into a synth sound, then re-playing it like an instrument. From there on, A-Wa recalls, “We all worked together in the studio, brainstorming and developing the melodic structure.” Kahana plays with lyrics as adeptly as Muskat manipulates beats and samples. “He’s a master of his craft,” Muskat says. “So working with him on ideas is amazing. Great stories just flow out of him!”

Teamworx and Thomas Feelman strike with ‘Whisper’
Dutch label, Fonk Recordings, have enjoyed a meteoric rise in the short time they’ve been around. Established just last year by founder and DJ/Producer, Dannic, they have released smash after smash from artists such as Merk & Kremont, M35, Holl & Rush and Pessto. With the iron still hot, they continue to strike, and the latest certain club hit is from Teamwork & Thomas Feelman in the shape of ‘Whisper’.
Since it first aired on radio, most notably played by Steve Angello on BBC Radio 1, audio rips appeared online, sending fans into a frenzy as their eagerness to learn when the release date would be. That time is now and if the anticipation is anything to go by, it looks like the first collaboration between Israeli duo Teamwork and Parisian Thomas Feelman could be Fonk Recordings biggest release to date.
Tobin Sprout Shares “Future Boy” Via Stereogum
Today Stereogum premiered Tobin Sprout’s “Future Boy/Man Of Tomorrow” the first single from his upcoming album ‘The Universe & Me’ out 2/3/2017 on Burger Records. You can pre-order the album here!
How do you bring a child’s curiosity to life? For Tobin Sprout, formerly of indie rock icons Guided by Voices, the answer is to revisit it with the wounded tenor of an aging piano man; someone searching, desperately, for his place in the cosmos. The Universe and Me is Sprout’s sixth solo album; hatched during a seven-year gestation period that included unearthing lost recordings (the single, “Future Boy Today/Man of Tomorrow” for one, was being saved for GBV), and digging through a treasure chest of memories in his home studio in Michigan, where Sprout composed behind his shambling grand piano and trembling, boyish voice. Each home recording was captured live with Sprout’s new band — which led to marvelous imperfections.

Problem had the internet talking yesterday when he began teasing the final countdown to Chachiville.com; the official home for his upcoming project. With puckish charm, precocious charisma, and witty lyricism, Caleborate is a rising star in the Bay Area scene. A highlight from his recent 1993, “Game Over” is a glorious slice of chipmunk soul, as Caleborate boasts about his rhyming ability and dismisses his troubles over the lush groove. For the video, premiered today by NYLON, Caleborate pulled out all the stops, casting a sea of local heroes and collaborators, including producers Mikos Da Gawd, Trollex, and Kuya Beats, and Bay cultural icons and radio hosts the Hyphy Hoochies, co-star in the video-game inspired video. Filmed in one take, the video imitates the user interface of an early ’90s arcade game, with a health bar in the upper-left corner. The hero of the game, Caleborate dodges bill collectors, his angry aunt, and police officers, all while collecting coins, stars, and extra lives, in pursuit of his goal of hanging back and watching TV. The visual is a fun extension of Caleborate’s fascination with early ’90s culture, which culminated in 1993, which combines nostalgia for the 23-year-old rapper’s childhood with reflections on modern life. Featuring appearances by Sylvan LaCue and Pell, as well as production from P-Lo, Mikos Da Gawd, HBK’s Kuya Beats, Cal-A,and Julia Lewis, 1993 explores Caleborate’s unique generational point-of-view through varied production and complex lyrical themes.

Announcement: E-40’s “Function” Certified Gold
Just as E-40 prepares for the release of his upcoming new double album The D-Boy Diary Books 1 & 2 on November 18th, the RIAA has certified his 2012 hit “Function” Gold. The lead single from his 2012 album Block Brochure: Welcome To the Soil Vol. 2 , “Function” featured YG, IAMSU!, and Problem and a high-energy, bass-heavy beat supplied by League of Starz. An instant hit, the track captured national attention leading to the resurgence of West Coast party music. “Function” marks the second Gold plaque 40 has earned this year, with his smash hit “Choices” having been certified back in May.
E-40 explained why the song was so successful, stating, “‘Function’ changed the sound of the West Coast. The energy rejuvenated memories of 2006. I put myself, YG, Problem and IAMSU! all on one song with two of us representing Northern California and two of us representing Southern California. We went gold independently and sold over 500,000 singles, now that is an accomplishment!” Nationally syndicated radio host Big Boy agreed, explaining “[‘Function’ is] one of those records that gave the world what they needed from the West Coast. ‘Function’ is certified Gold with the RIAA, but it is Diamond on turf.”
Singer Songwriter, Taylor Jahn, presents an emotionally charged promise of unconditional love on his debut single, “Hide Away.” The Oregon native comes at music with a fresh perspective and influences that span everyone from Sam Smith to Sara Bareilles to Jon McLaughlin — taking bits and pieces of the soundscapes he listens to and crafting a truly dynamic sound. As a vocalist, he breathes emotion effortlessly throughout each track, perfecting the art of heartfelt performances that perfectly encapsulates his lyrical stories. It’s music that feeds the soul in all the right ways and “Hide Away” is just the beginning.
