NEW ALBUM BY FACCAO CAIPIRA
The southwest blues band Facção Caipira (Hillbilly Faction) has infected Brazil with the release of their first studio album: Homem Bom (Good Man).
With influences from Jack White, The Black Keys, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Winter, the band was formed in 2009, unpretentiously to play covers. But with the high quality of execution for their cathartic shows, the band soon came to be known in the country.

Indie pop artist Suntrodden releases the second single, “It’s Never Over,” off of upcoming EP, Suntrodden I, out February 5. Furthering the EP’s theme of lovingly stripped-down songwriting, this single explores sparse, sunny piano and guitar melodies in the face of a coming apocalypse.
You wouldn’t expect such a serious subject from a song so drenched in bright melodies and uplifting lyrics. Shakers and playful guitars dance around the mix, while confident piano chords hold the progression down. Erik Stephansson’s voice is warm and untouched amidst a seamless dichotomy between dark subject matter and vibrant, minimalistic instrumentation. GLEN HANSARD’S A SEASON ON THE LINE EP + NEW SINGLE
A Season on the Line, the new EP from Glen Hansard, will be available February 19. The album follows Hansard’s Grammy-nominated (Best Folk Album) second solo outing Didn’t He Ramble, which was released last fall. During his worldwide tour in support of Didn’t He Ramble, two songs continued to appear in his set—“Didn’t He Ramble” and “Way Back in the Way Back When”—though neither were included on the recent album or on any official release. This is all part of Hansard’s creative process—honing songs in a live setting. Due to popular demand, Hansard included the two songs on the new EP.
Recorded at Chicago’s Electrical Audio Studios on a day off between shows and featuring his touring band, “Didn’t He Ramble” and “Way Back in the Way Back When” bristle with all the energy that made them staples of the live show. Däumling will release their first album on March 18, 2016. Following the fairy-tale Hop o’ My Thumb (in German: “Däumling”), the band will call their album „Seven League Boots“. In addition to singer Steffi Messner and her voice inspired by classical music, the album will feature Trance, Electronic and Motown music as well as several ballads.

Many people mark the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with reverence and ceremonies, but John Hope Bryant honors him by working to make King’s economic goals a reality. Bryant’s organization, Operation HOPE, brings financial literacy and education to the under-served communities where it is needed most.
Operation HOPE, the nonprofit private banker founded by Bryant in 1992, teaches low- and moderate-income people the basics of banking and the benefits of home ownership, among other topics aimed at encouraging small-business entrepreneurship and financial independence – forging what Operation HOPE calls a “silver rights movement.” The group has helped more than 2.5 million people and serves 300-plus cities across the U.S.

The 7th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival that takes place at the historic Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 27-29, 2016, announced its third and final round of artists completing their full lineup.
Artists announced today include the return of Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Pepper, Barrington Levy, J Boog, Mike Love, The Wheeland Brothers, and Katastro. Norwegian electronic duo Lemaitre debut a new track, “Stepping Stone” featuring Mark Johns, from their forthcoming EP, 1749, due January 29 via Astralwerks.”Stepping Stone” premiered yesterday on Stereogum, where the track is described as “An aggressively catchy groove, the kind that wrestles its way into rearranging the rhythm of your heartbeat for a few minutes.” The track features Mark Johns, the newest member of Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint. Born in Canada and raised in Singapore, Mark Johns gained widespread attention last year with a track she wrote with The Glitch Mob, “Love Death Immortality.”

COTTON JONES “WHILE YOU STAND”
“We did some full band stuff live in Burlington, Vermont, some of it was done in Connecticut, another song was tracked on a back porch in Nashville, others in Maryland,” says Michael Nau when asked about piecing together the material for his debut album, Mowing. “I was just recording songs. I wasn’t sure about really doing a record.” Nau’s casual attitude towards songwriting certainly suits the warm bucolic vibe of Mowing, but his nonchalant approach belies his tireless work ethic and formidable artistry. For the past eight years, Nau has written songs with his wife Whitney McGraw under the name Cotton Jones.

APA SIGNS TAYLOR HICKS
Taylor Hicks, the platinum-selling artist and entertainer from Alabama whose soulful vocals won over America’s heart and the fifth season of American Idol at the height of the singing competition phenomenon’s ratings heyday, has signed with APA, it was announced today by the agency’s Seth Rappaport. Hicks, who is currently in-studio finishing his latest album to be released this year, will be announcing upcoming tour dates soon.
“I’m a long-time fan and thrilled to be working with Taylor Hicks,” commented Rappaport in making the announcement. “His soulfulness and passion is evident in his music and live performances.”
