Whether for health benefits or added variety in your life, gluten-free food doesn’t have to be an uphill battle. Here’s a short list of some tasty treats you can make at home or buy at the store that’ll be sure to titillate your taste buds.
Easy Breezy Peanut Butter Cookies
Only four ingredients and a single bowl are needed for this sweet treat. Consisting of a single large egg, 1 cup of peanut butter, 1/4th cup of maple syrup, and 1/4th cup of oat bran, you can have tasty, healthy cookies ready in no time. A classic favorite of kids and adults alike, you can’t even tell these cookies are gluten free. Gluten free cooking can be a grand fun adventure.
Gluten-Free Pretzels
On the more savory side, pretzels made from rice flour, potato starch, and tapioca flour are a good option. Substituting out the wheat flour for one or all three of those listed in the first sentence, you can enjoy a soft pretzel just like at a carnival or mall kiosk without the worry of gluten. Some companies, like Mom’s Place Gluten Free, know that if pre-made mix is what you’re in the market for, try looking at your local grocer or specialty food store. There are many different companies out there these days that make lots of gluten-free items for all to enjoy.
Raspberry Sorbet
Looking for a frozen treat without the gluten? Look no further than this easy raspberry sorbet. With 4 and 1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 3/4 cups of confectioners’ sugar, and 1 and 1/4th cups of fresh or frozen raspberries blended in a food processor until smooth. You can pop this into the freezer to serve later, or eat it right there if you’ve used hard frozen raspberries. Easy as ever. Raspberry sorbets are a tasty treat for you to consume. There is always time to sit back and enjoy a treat.
Sliced Cucumbers, Seasoned or Dressed
Last on the list and on the savory side again, what’s simpler than a sliced up cucumber with your favorite (gluten-free) dressing, or simply sprinkled with a bit of dill and salt? Enjoy a refreshing and inexpensive snack or easy side for a main course this way. Cucumbers are by no means the only option for this particular snack, though. Swapping them out for sugar snap peas, beets, carrots, or even bell peppers in your favorite color can be used if cucumbers aren’t your thing.
Being a pro or beginner in a gluten-free lifestyle doesn’t have to be boring, tasteless, or even difficult. A myriad more options await for those looking to add a bit more flavor to their everyday snacking, without sacrificing their health. Happy eating.
