Hildegard (Helena Deland + Ouri) announce self-titled debut album alongside new video/song ‘Jour 1’. LP out 4th June via section1

Over just eight days in the studio in 2018, experimental singer-songwriter Helena Deland and multi-instrumentalist and producer Ouri (Ourielle Auvé) discovered an innate creative connection, building and bouncing ideas off of one another, developing an intuitive approach to composition and sound. The resulting self-titled album, Hildegard, is wholly its own. Out on 4th June as the debut release on newly launched label section1, today Deland and Ouri have also shared the propulsive and thrilling opening track ‘Jour 1’ – with an accompanying music video. The duo describes ‘Jour 1’ as being “about processing by partying, and the clarity that sometimes comes with it.”

FRENCH INDIE POP ARTIST MOODOÏD ANNOUNCED PRIMADONNA EP + SHARES “ONLY ONE MAN”

Women have played a part in MOODOÏD / Pablo Padovani’s work from the very start – his idols include Patti Smith, Kate Bush, Björk and Cindy Sherman “artists who created enormous, dreamlike worlds, both in sight and in sound.” When MOODOÏD’s first album Le Monde Möö came out in 2014 (featuring “Je suis la montagne” and “De folie pure”, mixed by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala), he was backed by an all-female band, as well as an all-female technical staff; breaking the testosterone-fuelled conventions of music tours in which women are mostly absent, or overshadowed.

LA’s Red Ribbon Shares New Single/Video “Way” off New LP ‘Planet X’ out June 11th (Danger Collective Records)

Red Ribbon—the project of LA-based songwriter Emma Danner—today released her new single “Way” alongside its Eleanor Petry-directed video, off her forthcoming album Planet X out June 11th, 2021, via Danger Collective Records. Haunting and memorable, “Way” is the album’s thematic centerpoint: a poignant song about the urgency to find meaning in life before it’s too late. “This one doesn’t have many words but I probably spent two years writing the lyrics,” explains Danner. “If you knew it was your last night alive, what would you say to those you care for the most? That’s kind of what was on my mind here.” Lead single “Renegade” earned support from NPR Music (All Songs Considered & New Music Friday playlist), Buzzbands.la, and more.

Nashville’s Darrin Bradbury Shares New Punk-Tinged Track “Deanna, Deanna” – Listen Now

Explaining the familial inspiration behind the song Bradbury said: “Deanna is my sister, I wrote this song for her, she lives up in New Jersey, I miss her dearly, she’s got two beautiful kids and a husband, I don’t get to see her enough, I figured this song would make her smile.”

Listen to Shadow Of The Pyramids

“Shadow Of The Pyramids” is from my new album, Passion Play, out April 30th.

I was listening to a lot of ’70s soul and tried a falsetto. Psychedelic is one of those words that’s used loosely, but it’s how I’d categorize this one. Kind of apocalyptic and nostalgic.

LIVINGSTON DEBUTS NEW SINGLE “THE GIVER”

Livingston expanded on the track, “‘The Giver’ is a song about feeling like you don’t deserve to be loved – and looking at the one who chooses to love you, despite your flaws, and questioning why they still stand by your side. To me personally, it’s a song about accepting my past and realizing that love is not an expectation of perfection, but to grow alongside another person that’s just as broken as I am. Learning to accept change and to move on from the past is a huge part of my next EP, so I’m excited to lead with it on this next song.”

Anderson East returns with “Maybe We Never Die” out August 20, first single “Madelyn” debuts today

East’s third release for Elektra/Low Country Sound, Maybe We Never Die takes the Alabama born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter’s seductively vintage voice in a decidedly fresh direction. Collaborating once again with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb along with longtime bandleader and now co-producer Philip Towns, the 12 tracks flow together with an overarching sense of urgency but maintain distinct musical boundaries. The energy toggles between a hunger for vulnerability in togetherness and a clinging to solitude as a romantic self-defense. There is consternation with the speed and volume at which the world operates and solace to be found in the simple act of getting up and going.

Brooklyn-based duo Supertaste share “Super Classic”

“Super Classic” features a funky disco bassline paired with buoyant pop vocals, smooth synths, groovy guitar chords and a rich tapestry of club-inspired rhythms. It’s an uplifting song about feeling confident, in love and good about yourself. The cross-genre single combines elements of indie dance production with warm indie-pop melodies. When asked on the meaning behind the song, Supertaste adds, “The setting of this song in our heads is really like a ‘Fear & Loathing’ vibe—but make it a first date in NYC—trying to capture the energy of the city at 2:00 a.m. on a summer night, that electricity of a new romance, the intoxicating heartbeat of the nightlife.”

Pop innovator Lydia Ainsworth shares “Sparkles & Debris”; title track of new album due 5/21

“The album title Sparkles & Debris is the good and the bad,” says Ainsworth. “At its most basic level, it’s our shared experience of life.” She explains that the song, which began with an instrumental she worked on with Stranger Things composer Kyle Dixon, is partly based on the Greek myth of Arachne, a proud weaver who was transformed by the goddess Athena into a spider: “Ovid’s myth offers an allegory for our era of obfuscation, when lies spread faster than the truth to benefit those in power. I love this myth because Arachne stands up for her art, and she doesn’t back down to pressures of society or the gods in power.”
