Punk Goes Folk on Rough Sleeper Turned Recording Artist Josh Robins’ EP Blessed with a Mess

Josh Robins is the embodiment of the travelling folk storyteller and with the release of his EP Blessed with a Mess – Aug 29th – it will be clear for all to see.

Ahead of the EP, Robins is releasing his lead single All Kinds of Shoes along with its accompanying music video. The upbeat single tells the story of a silver tongued gamemaster Johnny and the woman of his dreams Rebecca coming to odds with his money and wealth of earthly goods. Its video depicts Josh singing Johnny and Rebecca’s tale to a jaunty pub crowd, while the couple’s story plays out in a modern setting.

“Witty, observational songs for the millennial generation” – Rockshot Magazine

Originally from the world of punk, Robins cut his teeth and honed his skills on the country’s roads and rails. Couch surfing, busking, and pub shows provided refuge to the upcoming artist who was forced to leave dangerous home conditions. Today, Josh is doing much better, now travelling the country playing shows in his self-converted van affording him the journeyman musician’s life of his heroes before him, when he is not pursuing his English Literature MA.

To date, Josh has played alongside Will Varley, the lead singers from Inspiral Carpets and The Bluetones, and has played Cambridge Folk Festival twice. Robins is also a mainstay of the thriving Cambridgeshire and London folk scenes.

All Kinds of Shoes will be available across all platforms August 4th.
