To celebrate the first full year of the Skeleten project, the Sydney producer and vocalist shares his rendition of Digitalism’s iconic 2007 single “Pogo,” out now on Astral People Recordings / [PIAS]. With ebbing, pillowy synth chords, punctuating stabs of harmonic vocal samples and an airy dance beat carried by funk-laced bass and guitar, Skeleten transposes the jagged, stop-start house-rock of Digitialism’s original to his idiosyncratic blend of the celestial and the embodied, something which exists both within and outside of you.

Metaphorically titled for the creative process, that of bleeding and reflecting, Blood Trine Moon is a vessel of contained rituals, exploring varied states of consciousness within occult explorations of the natural world. The EP intones rich, dark, ambient textures and further explorations into various vocal caverns. Elements of dungeon synth and harsh industrial genres blend seamlessly into this complex four-track EP.

With a 6,000 mile distance between the two lovers described in the song by Churchill, the love seems too good to be true, given they have never met. “‘Would You Believe Me’ is about a deluded, hopeless romantic trying to convince himself that it’s possible to turn a fantasy into a reality,” Churchill explains. Michigan funk group Vulfpeck has announced its first release of all-original music in over a year.
