M Field releases self-titled debut EP & shares 5th single (Leafy Outlook)

“The verse of Ten is a Number began as a voice note that was half-forgotten, returned to and developed as a pitch for a movie. It was not chosen, but I liked it and so I added a chorus to it. When I wrote the chorus I felt like it perfectly embodied the way life felt at the time, which is a rare thing I think. I had met some new people and felt a kind of sheltered youthful optimism I hadn’t felt for a while,” Field explains.

“When writing ‘People In My Life’, we aimed to keep a traditional bluegrass feel on instruments featured in the track; you can listen for a soulful fiddle, banjo, harmonica, and percussion elements like the castanets and washboard. Really pushing our range on this one just going full western with it was the nature of the game where we wanted to tap into that creative side of ourselves. Big shout out to Nora for coming by the studio and blessing us with her violin & fiddle skills. Truly a Pro and friend of Lucid!” – Lucid Phase

Channeling The Hues Corporation in his bedazzled jacket, Jay is a natural for the era, as he flashes his diamond-studded smile and dances on a bar. “Rock The Boat” is the latest video from Coochie Chronicles, YN Jay’s recent project, following recent clips for “Immaculate,” “Mix The Yeahhhhh,” and “Better Days.”

A psychedelicized call to hold your head high in the darkest of times, the track brings the boogie with wah-wah guitars and Bernie Worrell-dosed madcap synth work from guest keyboardist Adam MacDougall. As Howlin Rain principle Ethan Miller declares in the refrain: “Don’t let the tears flow down beneath your leaves, for the years can drown just as easily,” its swirling forward motion showers 70s’ glitter upon a dance floor of the mind.

Following the release of his brand new five track EP All In in July, Skepta today releases the visual for stand-out track “Eyes on Me”. “‘Somewhere Cool With You’ is about taking a trip with your person,” said Doleac. “Where you might ask? Doesn’t even matter. ‘Anywhere, don’t care, long as you’re right there baby it’s cool with me…’ It’s a drop everything, spontaneous, throw a dart at a map and go kinda feeling. I wrote this song in the middle of quarantine, so the inspiration is VERY real for this one. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only ready to get back to normal, pack a bag, and go somewhere cool. If you feel that too, this one’s for you.”

“Sunset To London” is a magisterial example of storytelling through music. A soft, heartwarming acoustic melody blends in perfect harmony with Jane Honor’s silky vocals and thoughtful lyrics. The single was produced by Matty Carlock, who also co-wrote the track with Honor, and was mixed by Pete Andrews and mastered by Dan Shike. “I told Matty about a time that I dropped my whole life and ran away to London over the summer of 2019,” says Honor. “There are parts of this song that are right from my heart, and there are also details that are fictional. It was really fun to create this dramatic storyline together.” Jane Honor illustrates the inspiration of the song as “running away from everything in your life, responsibilities, and running away from a particular person.” The production of this track is one to be proud of as the candid single has listeners invested and touched by the honesty and intrigue of the song. The story of escaping to an oasis-like London for a cathartic release is one that many can relate to and only adds to the already stunning charm of the song.

Silverbacks Share “Wear My Medals” / Announce signing to Full Time Hobby

“From the very start, we’ve always wanted to be a ‘career band’. We don’t see the point in not constantly making music – if you’re lucky enough to be able to make music you like and enjoy it, why put restrictions on it?” says Kilian O’Kelly, one of the three guitarists in Silverbacks. His brother Daniel, who takes care of vocals and another of the guitars, nods in agreement. After the release and acclaim provided to their debut record Fad in 2020, it would have been understandable for the band to take a step back and take stock of their achievements thus far. Not so – writing sessions began early in 2020 for what they hope to be the follow-up, with Dan sending files back and forth from his new base in Paris while the others – Kilian, bassist and vocalist Emma Hanlon, guitarist Peadar Kearney and drummer Gary Wickham – remained in Ireland. They spent their downtime from live commitments refining and shaping their ideas, taking to the studio when they could with producer Daniel Fox (Girl Band) to try and push themselves and their music forward.
