Today, LA-based singer-songwriter-producer Mia Carucci releases their self-produced single “Pomba Gira.” The spiritual track encompasses the summoning of the Pomba Gira, the Quimbanda queen who represents all facets of femininity, protector of sex workers, and all people free of the confines of sexual identity. Stemming from the Afro-Indigenous religion of Quimbanda, based in Brazil, the track serves as a way to invoke the queen to bless one’s work. The sound of a river stream combined with a minimal drum beat and Mia’s soft vocals creates a sonically-enchanting experience on “Pomba Gira”.
