In March 2020 at the onset of the Covid lockdown, the release of Strange Majik’s new LP “20/20” fell flat as a pancake. So did the Tribeca 5 year-long Tuesday residency. Unlike the mass exodus of New Yorkers running for the hills, Pattillo’s music career stood still. It was time to learn, reflect and grow. With the discovery of an old VHS of Cornell Dupree guitar licks and Bowie’s 100 favorite books, Pattillo spent the lockdown reading, writing, learning and eventually producing what would become the brand new LP, “Strange Majik And The Righteous Wrongs.” Aided remotely by the his ace band members, and in the studio by his 17 year old son, they set out to make it work. Even Geoff Burke from Harry Connick Jr. remotely recorded stunning sax parts from home. Today after featuring “Midnight Promises” on air, New York’s prestigious WFUV Radio has called the album, “A sensational collection of soul inspired rock ‘n’ roll songs.”

OWLS & ALIENS Release New Single/Video – “YOU CAN’T SAVE EVERYONE” – The strength found in a band determined to succeed can be found in the situations and times they might find themselves facing. Owls & Aliens new single “You Can’t Save Everyone” hits the mark on all points. Composing, producing and performing the music for “An Inventory of Memory: Vol. II,” which dropped last Friday, was cathartic for multidisciplinary artist Harley Cortez. The album release represents the next phase in his healing process after losing his mother and nephew last year. The musician, painter, filmmaker and writer created a collection of aural examinations of genetic memory purposed with turning loss into something beautiful, which is a fitting description of the eight ambient-classical tracks that comprise the second volume of the four-volume “An Inventory of Memory” recording series.
Jnatra – Slow Motion
Coming out of an energetic shift following the stay-at-home orders, artist and entrepreneur Jonathan Garcia, AKA Jnatra, turned a forgotten at-home nook into a modular oasis. Under Jnatra, Garcia patched his way into new dimensions bringing his guitar and bass along for the journey. The song “Slow Motion,” is the first track released for this Los Ángeles-based artist. Forced to stay indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the desire for change and daydreams of a warm blissful summer with no restrictions took shape in mellow, wave-like tones. “I wanted to capture the feeling of moving from one dimension to another, from one reality to the next,” shares García. “Al the slow motion” I had during the pandemic challenged me to think about how I wanted to re-enter society and move in ways I hadn’t before. It’s a song that anticipates that feeling of exiting a dark dimension into something more meaningful and hopeful.”
