Scream out her name, and we’ll curse her in shame.”
Chymera releases House & Dub Techno EP via Sound of Berlin
Producing records since 2002, releasing internationally since 2006, Irishman Chymera praises the electronic capital with his new release Varial Crush, a carefully honed 2-track EP of house and dub techno, via Sound of Berlin.
Varial Crush showcases everything Chymera does well: the rhythms are intricate and shifting, the house chords are appropriate, smooth, and elegant, the track ups the tension before climaxing in a heart-racing break. The EP scales back the rhythms to paint a portrait of the electronic capital, Berlin. The track is warm and hopeful. Its gentle swells tease the feeling out of a mild-mannered chord line.

Golden-age Colombian beauty contest stars in Contento’s latest dose of mind-expanding salsa
As soon as the piano tumbao groove hits there’s no doubt we’re in salsa territory here, but as is the prerogative of Colombian duo Contento, convention is rarely allowed to fester. Soon, the piano is augmented by percussion, one heavy bass line and Paulo’s vocals detailing that time by the riverside (“al lao’ del rio”). Together, they make for a seismic groove only knocked out of its heady pulse by spikes of twisted tiple guitar, until this jamboree rolls to an end.
