Damn Jackals Share “Lovely Nothin'” via Pancakes & Whiskey, Read EARMILK Feature, More Music Out Soon

Damn Jackals share their new Summer 2021 single “Lovely Nuthin'” via Pancakes and Whiskey, who set the scene beautifully: “Imagine you live sometime in the 50s or 60s. You just won a drag race in your 1955 Ford Thunderbird and you have a hankering for the local diner’s specialty burger and milkshake combo. You sling your leather jacket over the back of the booth and this is the moment where you wish that Damn Jackals were able to travel back in time so that you can select “Lovely Nuthin” to play on the jukebox at your table.” Over the weekend, they played a soldout show at Our Wicked Lady 7/24.

Acclaimed Actor & Singer Skylar Astin Releases Piano Version of Debut Single “Without You”

The stark differences between the two tracks beautifully demonstrate Skylar’s musicality, and his ability to completely change the song based on the genre or sound. Although both versions capture the blissful feeling of meeting someone and knowing you want the connection to last a lifetime, the piano version is equal parts soft and steadfast; a declaration of love to a partner and the experiences they’ve shared since first meeting.

Jeff Rouse’s THE GEMINI AFFAIR Release Cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Digging In The Dirt”

“I’ve always liked the way that Peter Gabriel looked into the dark side of himself in the song and the juxtaposition of how the lyrics and song felt against each other. I had it on a playlist and was listening to it on the way to the studio. So when we found ourselves with a little extra time, we gave it a try and it turned out fantastic. It just felt right in the context of the other songs we had recorded for the EP,” said Jeff Rouse.

Funky New Track from The Wavos

The Wavos say the following about the track: “An homage to Prince and to Stevie Wonder’s bass lines, it brings an element of soulful funk to our traditionally ’80s new wave/powerpop focus. Joe’s clean guitar chords and falsetto vocals lay the foundation of the song. Tone’s drums and Gordon’s synth bass & baritone sax samples beef up the low end, with Gordon’s string & horn sections and noodling sax solo topping it all off.”

Warmyear (Sonya Balchandani/The Big Sleep) Announces Debut LP

Warmyear is the solo project of Sonya Balchandani (bass/keyboards/vocals in The Big Sleep). “I Wear The Memory” is the upshot of jumping on a little spark after a year of getting through it. From all the thinking, watching, reading, listening, and mothering came songs about spies, tricksters, rootlessness, searching, truth, and motherhood. (Some of the inspirations: so much Ursula K. Le Guin, In & Of Itself, The Bureau, The Vanished Birds, When Stars Are Scattered, and a sweet but terrifying lullaby.)
