MARK SOLOTROFF: New Video From Bloodyminded/Anatomy Of Habit Founder Now Playing At Captured Howls
Recorded and mixed by SOLOTROFF during April and May of 2021 and mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room in May in 2021, Not Everybody Makes It is SOLOTROFF’s most restrained and controlled synth recording to date. While he anticipated creating a hybrid of more primitive and aggressive sounds balanced by more subtle ambient textures, by the time he finished mixing the six new songs — each one exactly ten-minutes in length — he realized that he had made significant strides in evolving his recent style. Not Everybody Makes It functions as a sonic elegy to the countless losses that so many of us have suffered over the last year and in the recent past, and its shimmering and crumbling frequencies and textures enter into a tense balancing act with elusive melodies that slowly drown in and then emerge from the shifting and eroding dronescapes.

Ryan Trey Is Willing To Risk It All In New Video “It’s About a Girl”
Last Friday, #JUSTAREGULARLABEL/Interscope Records was thrilled to announce the return of rising R&B star Ryan Trey and his new single “It’s About a Girl.” The precocious songwriter proved that he is back in rare form by penning a calm, moody anthem for independent women to indulge on. Teen Vogue lauded Trey for his “giving us another R&B hit that’s hard to get off the brain.” Today, he takes things a step further with the song’s dark visuals. The video follows Ryan arriving to a party and seeing a girl that he’s into. As the night progresses, he realizes that everything is not what it seems. Through hallucinations and realizing the girl from the party is now a paramedic. It then becomes clear that Ryan never made it to the party in the first place.

VERA ELLEN SHARES SECOND SINGLE ‘I WANT 2 B BOY’
Today Vera Ellen shares a second sensational single, ‘I Want 2 B Boy’, from the upcoming album ‘It’s Your Birthday’ out October 8th via Flying Nun Records.
‘I Want 2 B Boy’ explores the depths of identity — and the incertitude that can arise from opening a can of this particular brand of worms. Sonically, the track makes immaculate use of synthesizers, and scratches our itch for a spirited sing-a-long. Equal parts triumphant and ambivalent, the sonic delivery oscillates between the two, showcasing Vera’s incredible song-writing prowess.
Paul Thorn Releases “Holy Hottie Toddy” From Upcoming Album Never Too Late To Call
The fourth single from Mississippi-renaissance-man Paul Thorn’s upcoming album Never Too Late To Call may be his most joyous to date. “Holy Hottie Toddy” takes a simple-but- groove and a resounding chorus to get a very basic, but all-too-important message across; “Love everybody.” The song’s last verse sums up the idea succinctly: “Let go of any grudges while you’re still around / You can’t say you’re sorry when you’re laying six feet in the ground / The best time is right now.”
Here’s what singer/guitarist Noah Kardos-Fein has to say about it:
“I was mindlessly playing chords through a pitch shifter, and then a goofy drumbeat came through, and I laughed at how mainstream and pop-oriented it all sounded, so I began facetiously singing a vocal line I thought would match this fake pop track. When I stopped, I realized I’d actually stumbled on something catchy, melancholy, and kind of weird. It became a song about taking a chance.”
