Bedroom Pop Artist Aunty Social Shares Video For Her New Single “Aunty Depressants”

Toronto-based bedroom pop artist Aunty Social shares her hypnotic new single, “Aunty Depressants,” from her upcoming EP, It Looks Friendly, out September 24, 2021. On the inspiration for the tune, she says, “During the withdrawals of my antidepressants, I realized how reliant my mind/body were to these pills I had been taking for years. During withdrawals, basic human needs like eating and sleeping became a chore and forced, my emotions only functioned in extremes and in response to the deregulation, I went into a state of dissociation for a long period of time. After producing the instrumental of this song, I needed a vocal melody. I decided to flip through my journal and only found substance in the pages I had catalogued my withdrawal symptoms. These observations helped form the melody while also adding an ironic lyrical spin. It became a love song to my antidepressants, imagined as a lover I couldn’t bear living without.”

Nashville quintet Future Crib announces new album, shares “Most Likely Never Going To Die” video

“This tune is kind of a tongue in cheek realization that nothing lasts forever, even when you feel like you and the people in your life are invincible,” says vocalist Johnny Hopson. “It’s been elating to see people at shows singing along with the song without it even being released. It feels surreal to have a room full of people singing to each other ‘you and I are never gonna die!’ At least right then and there in that moment, you’re indestructible.”

Oscar Lang Releases Video For “21st Century Hobby”

“‘21st Century Hobby’ is a tune based on the idea of society’s obsession with sharing your life online and comparing yourself to other people,” Lang shares. “There was one point where I was spending 13 hours a week on social media, which equated to about a month every year. That was a really dark time for me – I always thought that it would never affect me, but it took some time to realize that it was subconsciously affecting my mental health.”

Cameron Knowler Premieres New Single “Kuyina” via Deepest Currents

Today, guitarist and composer Cameron Knowler shared “Kuyina” from his forthcoming debut solo album Places of Consequence, releasing July 16, 2021 via American Dreams. Knowler’s desert upbringing informs his willingness to use silence as a compositional tool, which is perhaps most evident on “Kuyina,” a sentimental track derived from Congolese accordionist Camille Feruzi and late, legendary fiddler Jon Bekoff, who passed moments after playing the song in his backyard. In Knowler’s arrangement of the song—a tribute to his late mother—one senses the depth of his consideration, where something as small as a bent note nearly tears a hole in the song. Listen here.

MA’s Ea$y Money Takes It Back Yet Moves Forward With New Video “Every Night (A1)” Video

Massachusetts Ea$y Money returns with new clean visuals for his latest single Every Night (A1). Directed by Watsyn Filmz, the video is realistic with no filler. “The rhymes are straight forward so we didn’t get conceptual with the vid” says Ea$y. This song plays the notable role as the intro to his latest 2090 EP produced entirely by Nozs. “Everything I do is 90s inspired. But the beats I got from Nozs sounded like they actually fit in the 90s. They gave me a real DITC type vibe so 2090 represents taking it back yet moving forward at the same time. And I decided to pay homage to the great Grand Puba with the artwork because he certainly is a Hip Hop icon I don’t believe people appreciate enough” says Ea$y.
