  • Know the Eligibility Criteria 

This step is essential to focus on before deciding to go ahead with the recruitment process. Every person who is interested in this position should check the eligibility criteria for the examination before applying for it. The eligibility criteria of the GIC Assistant Manager exam includes:

  • Nationality – The candidate applying for the position should either be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee, or an Indian-origin person who is permanently settled in India. 
  • Age Limits – A candidate applying for this position should be at least 21 years of age and should not be more than 30 years. Some age relaxation is provided to socially marginalized groups to promote inclusivity.  
  • Educational Qualifications – Educational qualifications are different for different streams of the GIC organizational structure. For a position in Finance and Accounting, a candidate must have an undergraduate degree from a reputed University. Non-mandatory but desirable additional qualifications include Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant. For the General and Insurance positions, an undergraduate degree in any discipline would be sufficient. An LLB degree is required to apply for the Legal position. A candidate with relevant experience in the legal field or having an LLM would benefit the corporation.

  • Part B – Part B also has objective-type questions where the candidates will be tested on their Reasoning Skills, English Language Skills, General Awareness and Knowledge, Numerical Ability, and Computer Literacy, with the number of questions being 20, 25, 20, and 15, respectively. 
  • Part C – This part consists of descriptive type answers that test a candidate’s English language skill, essay writing, and comprehension skills with 3 questions of 10 marks each. 

For the general stream, the syllabus and exam pattern differs from the one mentioned above. The exam pattern is as follows – 

  • Part A – This section has objective-type questions that test a candidate’s Critical thinking and High Order Reasoning Ability, with 40 questions of one mark each. 
  • Part B – This section includes a Test of Reasoning, a test of English Awareness, General Knowledge and Awareness, and Numeric Ability with Computer Basics.
  • Part C – This part consists of descriptive type answers that test a candidate’s English language skill, essay writing, and comprehension skills with 3 questions of 10 marks each.
