Daniel Davies shares “Spies” ahead of EP release this Friday
Daniel Davies has just shared a visual for the title track of his forthcoming EP Spies, set for release this Friday from Sacred Bones Records. Well known as a frequent collaborator to John Carpenter, Davies’ solo work is stirring and unsettling in equal measure. “Spies started with the uneasy feeling of being watched,” he states. “By cutting, altering, and reshaping various sonic repetitions, a sound emerged that reflects loss of humanity in a dystopian world where machinery is used to track individuals from a distance. Machines created by man themselves – always growing, always watching, always hunting.” Davies composed the five track EP in isolation in the fall and winter of 2020. The resulting songs feel at once intense and intimate, bolstering his trademark guitar and synthesizer lines with double bass, cello, viola, and violin to craft his most sonically expansive solo material yet.

MOSARA STREAM NEW ALBUM IN FULL
Sonoran doom metal band MOSARA are streaming the entirety of their new self-titled album via Cvlt Nation. The album is set to be released this Friday via Transylvanian Recordings.
The band commented “The year 2020 was bittersweet to us as a young band. In late 2019, we had just released our demo and we started to get into a rhythm playing some nice shows and had some others lined up. We were also starting to garner some attention and then the pandemic hit and put a halt to all of that. Once the initial lockdowns were lifted, we got to work and wrote the songs “Earth God” and “Cocoliztli” Those songs unequivocally represent the overall mood that 2020 had beset upon us. During the fall we recorded every song that we had at that time, and after a few more months of mixing and mastering, we are finally releasing our debut album. We couldn’t be more stoked with the result.”

NAYANA IZ Shares New Track “Breaking Point” || Out Now On Different Recordings
“Breaking Point” heralds a new chapter in the singer/rapper’s already-distinguished career. A confessional diary entry, the bruised vulnerability serves as both a rebirth and a prelude to this latest era of plaintive keys and jazz inflections paired with wistful vocals and hushed rap verses. What first began as an ode to her boyfriend manifested into something far more profound; the consciousness of a British-Asian woman reconciling with her past self. The accompanying video provides a snapshot into the 20-year-old Londoner’s world, mostly set against the low-lit nightscapes of the city.

BODYSNATCHER: Brutal Deathcore Practitioners Unveil “King Of The Rats” Single + Video Via Entertainment One
Comments vocalist Kyle Medina of the track, “I wrote this song mainly about how people act high and mighty, talk a ton of negativity and trash, but are essentially not as holier than thou as they present themselves. Not only that but these people tend to associate themselves with others who are similar in this aspect. Hence the name ‘King Of The Rats.’ Not necessarily about someone directly, but more so if the shoe fits, wear it.”
Vân Scott “What’s Coming Next?” Out Today
The song was written out of Scott’s frustration and anxiety about the future. Says Scott, “I left my full-time church job in 2018 to devote myself wholeheartedly to my music career, and I was growing impatient, wondering where all of this was going – if anywhere at all. I went to Nashville with just this chorus in 2019 and was able to finish it up with Jay Speight and Jorge Mhondera. I had never met either of them before, but the chemistry was instant. The song embodies a prayer more than anything else. It’s a raw and honest questioning of faith that I believe is universally felt, whether you’re religious or not. The driving and powerful pop production in this song helps to capture its earnestness, especially in the climactic bridge, which is filled with lush strings and a passionate vocal.”
