Corbu release their dream collab “Lost & Found” with Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin

Brooklyn dream-psych duo Corbu have teamed up with one of their heroes, legendary Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin, to create “Lost & Found”, which they share today alongside an accompanying video. The track is an upbeat, danceable slice of electronic indie pop, produced by Goodwin as a dubbed-out, reggae-tinged trip to the sun. It serves as the lead for Corbu’s upcoming Lost & Found EP, out June 4th on Trash Casual and 3 Beat, which features the song reimagined in four different ways. The track also follows Doves’ latest album, The Universal Want, which topped the UK album charts in September 2020. Lyrically, “Lost & Found” was inspired by Jonathan Graves of Corbu’s experience of the time before he was adopted.

Graves states:
“I wrote the chorus to myself, based on my experience of being adopted at 4 months old. I was kind of messed up and couldn’t calm myself down, and I realized a lot of it had to do with the first four months of my life. Your brain is still forming, and it’s an eternity for a baby when you don’t have anyone to connect with. Amanda and I think the song applies to everyone, to some extent – you have to learn to be your own parent and be your own friend.”

Speaking on self-creating the video for the song, he adds:
“The video is a Grimm’s fairy tale/mushroom trip in the woods. Jimi’s production on the track is a frenzied collage of samples, so we wanted to capture that same energy visually. We filmed ourselves singing and dancing along to the song at half-speed, all low and evil-sounding, and then sped up the footage to give it the same jittery feel as the vocals. We hope we did it justice.”
