Today, Blue Note Records released There Is No End, a posthumous album from Tony Allen, who died last year at the age of 79. The album features guest rappers and singers including Skepta, Sampa The Great, Danny Brown, Zelooperz, and more. The release comes alongside a visualizer video for “One Inna Million (feat. Lava La Rue).”

Before reaching out to collaborator Brandon Markell Holmes to add his lyrical and vocal genius, Jomoro’s Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco created an instrumental track inspired by Brazil’s Baile Funk music and culture. Immediately inspired by the song’s energy, Holmes recalls, “When I initially heard the track I loved the energy. It was extremely fervent and urgent. My initial thought was: What do I write about?? What is important enough to match this energy. I knew it had to be about something meaningful, and at the time we were still heavily in the middle of George Floyd & Breonna Taylor unfortunate tragedies. I felt I had to speak.”

Today, NYC-based alternative pop trio JANUARY JANE have unveiled the music video to their newly released single “Versions of You.” The single, which (Second Society Report) lauds as “incredibly infectious” and That Grape Juice calls “one of the most dance-worthy and infectious tunes of the year” is the newest track taken from the band’s upcoming EP Your Drug out this summer via Whiskey Vinyl/BMG. Filmed at Be Electric Studios in Brooklyn, this was the first shoot that the band had to have a mobile onsite disease control center on hand to test everyone.

Glasses Malone pays tribute to four decades of West Coast Rap on “6 N’ the Mornin’ (GMX)”
“Maya Angelou once said ‘if you don’t know where you’ve come from, you don’t know where you’re going,’” explains Glasses Malone. “As the last true essence of this west coast rap lineage, I want this project to connect the DNA. The history of The West. ‘6 ‘N the Mornin’ (GMX)’ is the start with 4 decades of West Coast artists coming together and putting on for the culture.”
Norway-based band Royal Carbona was formed by indie-rock musician Marius Maeland, who had several songs ready and called other musician friends to help out with his new project. The band mixes several genres (pop, rock, and sometimes psychedelic landscapes) in many of the songs, and is sometimes fairly experimental in both song structure and instrumentation.
‘I Don’t Like Dancing’ is an upbeat jaunt through the Gothenburg native’s intoxicating glam-pop. Riding a bop of piano keys and funky bass, calling to mind the likes of Alfie Templeman, it’s matched with a suave late 70s air of Thin White Duke Bowie influences while his wide ranging vocals call to mind the likes of Father John Misty and Jake Shears in equal measure.
Max RM writes introspective songs, exploring universal themes such as love, loss, hope and angst. His songwriting is influenced by British and American folk music; he grew up listening to artists such as Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Elliott Smith, John Martyn, Nick Drake and Dick Gaughan. Max RM’s songs also draw on the work of contemporary musicians such as Radiohead, Bon Iver, Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers and Andy Shauf.
