Introducing > Senso > on Copenhagen’s Petrola80 & Opal Tapes > new single ‘Always On My iPhone’ out today > Listen Here
Senso, fronted by Danish singer Jens Konrad, is an avant-pop maelstrom of dark emotion and satirical humour. Combining earworm melody jacked fresh from 1985, tracked alongside elements from grandiose rock, trap bombast, kawaii breakbeats and contemporary electronics. Utterly unique, think Tears for Fears fronting a new sad boi vibe all too concerned with the current socio-political jigsaw puzzle. Nobody wants to rule the world.
Tomas Lindberg Redant states, “It is always very hard to choose which song to release to the public first, especially with this album having so many layers and textures. We did feel, however, that this, the opening track of the record, represented the overall feel of the album. It has the musical depths that you would expect from an AT THE GATES track, and still carries that intensity and urgency that we have always tried to get across with our music.

In contrast with their Emo-rap & EDM inspired two-track ‘want u/that was low’ from earlier this year, phonewifey returns with their poppiest material to date with ‘OOPS/OUCH’. ‘OOPS’ is a flirty, bubblegum coated pop track featuring frequent collaborator Kakoushka. By contrast ‘OUCH’ hits a more emotional tone, taking the form of an 80’s inspired synth-pop ballad but with phonewifey’s trademark bright and heavy percussion and synths.

BLACK SWAMP WATER release new video/single “Endless War” today
Today, “Endless War”, the new video from BLACK SWAMP WATER is available online. “Endless War” is also the third single from BLACK SWAMP WATER’s upcoming third album “Awakening”, which will be released on Mighty Music in August. The new song is hard, brutal, and thrashy – all classic metal traits that the dystopic horror universe of the music video supports to full extent.
“I originally wrote the song instrumentally back in 2013. I knew I wanted the lyrics to contrast the light and laid-back dance vibe the music has. I also knew I wanted the song to be about losing my dad, and the vulnerability that it ensues. Lyrically, I finished the entire song in an instant, all but the chorus. And that is how that song stayed until I rehashed it for this EP.”
Gabrielle Current releases liberating Neo-Soul/R&B single “If I Fall”—’Virgo’ EP due out May 27th
The Filipino-Korean-Swedish and American act constructs lush jazz-infused songs that transport you into an ethereal daydream. The new single brims with introspection through every line and bouncing chord. Time stands still from start to finish as “If I Fall” kindly envelopes the listener on a cloud while providing permission to process and re-evaluate. “With this song, I wanted to capture how loss gave me a new understanding of myself as well as the habits and patterns we choose,” explains Gabrielle Current, “It was through the letting go that I gained an independence and a freedom that could only come from me.”
The album arrives today, alongside the focus single and record title track, ‘Sixty Summers’. ‘Sixty Summers’” is a tale inspired by Stone’s early twenties, summers spent with friends on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, attending parties and experiencing the visceral elements of Australian summer — “the smell of salt water and sunscreen and mangoes and dead Christmas trees.” In the throes of youthful wonder, one of Stone’s friends turned to her and asked, “Can you believe we’ve only got sixty summers left?” With its warm, reverb-soaked guitar and bright horn section, “Sixty Summers” feels like the perfect soundtrack for that time of the year. “This song is about what you do with your sixty summers,” says Stone. “Do we waste it trying to grapple for more money and comfort, or do we live to make each other happy?”
