Magic Theatre Announces Next Artistic Director, Sean San José
Magic Theatre (Kathryn Kersey, Board Chair and Kevin Nelson, Managing Director) is thrilled to announce that Sean San José will be the company’s next Artistic Director, succeeding Loretta Greco in the post. San José will begin working with Magic Theatre in June 2021 on a part-time basis, transitioning to full-time in August 2021.

The night that “Germ Free High Fives” was recorded, Toronto was experiencing a massive flood. We considered rescheduling but Val was 8 months pregnant. So we set up all the mics and went ahead with a plan to record the song live off the floor. Everything began falling apart during the first take. Owen broke a string and by the time he replaced it, Paul’s amp started crackling and humming as smoke rose out the back – it was completely fried. Next, a major downpour started outside. The wind and rain pounded away at the studio walls, with the power soon cutting in and out.

This was the year of working with what was in front of us, of embracing our limitations and turning them into strengths. I’m so proud of the album we created during such a tough and dark time.”

Celebrated songstress Hanne Mjøen is sharing her latest single ‘Hell With You’ on the 23rd of April via Physical Presents. The songstress has previously worked with well-known artists such as Matisse & Sadko, Deepend and Astrid S and helped write R3HAB’s legendary single, ‘You Could Be’. As a result, she has received support from well-known publications such as Billboard, Refinery 29, Pop Sugar, Pop Matters, The Fader, Teen Vog Your EDM, and Magnetic Magazine to name a few as well as airplay from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac. Thrashers “Misfire” Stream Brand New Single – “Red Flag”
In 2004 at the age of 13 and 14 drummer James Nicademus and Guitarist/Vocalist Jay Johnson formed what ended up becoming the thrash metal band Diamond Plate. In 2007 Jay left that band and has since released multiple solo projects. Diamond Plate went on to be signed to Earache Records for 2 albums and played multiple tours and shows with Overkill, Death Angel, Testament, Megadeth, D.R.I. and many more. Fast forward to 2018. James Nicademus, Tommy Denniger of End of Sanity, and Sean Coogan of Vitrial formed Misfire. Shortly after Tommy decided to follow a different path so James called the only man for the job. His old friend Jay Johnson. A decision that would ultimately solidify Misfires line up.

Bachelor—the collaborative project of Jay Som’s Melina Duterte and Palehound’s Ellen Kempner—will release its debut album Doomin’ Sun on May 28th via Lucky Number, and today the duo share another single off of the record. Of the country-inflected “Sick of Spiraling” the band says “Sick of Spiraling is one of the last songs we wrote and recorded together in Topanga. Both of us initially tried to play drums on the song but the groove wasn’t right so we enlisted help from James Krivchenia.

Written over the course of several years, the new track’s guitar loop came to Doss years ago while she was worked in a used guitar store in Baltimore. The lyrics are a more recent addition. “‘Strawberry’ feels like a pause, a punctuation between past and future moments,” says Doss. “It’s about realizing that you are good and ok.”

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys have just dropped this animated video for the single Stranger Chest, taken from upcoming album ‘Transit Tapes (for women who move furniture around)’ which lands on the 2nd June 2021 via Unique Records.
Written by Lucy Kruger and forged in a tiny 34°c rehearsal space in Berlin, ‘Transit Tapes’ melts dreamy indie rock with dark folk and returns 12 pensive tracks exploring restlessness and a yearning to feel alive. This project is the first time Kruger has worked with drummer Martin Perret, guitarist Liú Mottes and bassist Andreas Miranda, who form The Lost Boys.
“I had an absolute blast writing this song with Britton Cameron,” said Savannah. “We really wanted to encapsulate my feelings of not knowing where I completely belong, not having any real roots anywhere, and the crazy life that music has blessed me with.”

Despite the fact that this day often actually resembles a return of winter, accompanied by snowfall and sub-zero temperatures; BSÍ claim that it’s never too early for a summer tune and a decent beach party.
