A concept almost two years in the making after creating their first sketch of the central character Ériu, LCY has taken inspiration from traditional Irish lore, fantasy soundtracks and the books of Mary Shelley to materialise their story. A sonic reflection of this intriguing character, Pulling Teeth draws inspiration from and reflects not just LCY themself and the world around them, but also Celtic polytheism. Growing up participating in traditional Irish music and dance but with an estranged family of traditional Irish musicians, on Pulling Teeth LCY harnesses their desire to connect with something both familiar and alien in culture that holds both belonging and un-belonging in their consciousness. The fantastical nature of the story has allowed LCY to write their own story of Ériu’s creation, worship, mistreatment, trauma, consciousness and ultimate decay.

Introducing Wayne Snow; Listen to “Seventy” via Roche Musique (French Kiwi Juice, Darius)

Today, Canadian singer-songwriter Jordan Hart, in partnership with L’Arche Canada, releases the compelling music video for his song “Freedom”. The track is from his recently released debut EP Only Pieces of the Truth (Believe Digital). The powerful and moving video, created with Academy award-winning studio TonicDNA, depicts the coming-of-age story of a boy with Down Syndrome who learns to navigate the world with a loving mother, an absent father, a classroom bully, and a life-long crush.
“So High” is the beginning of more songs to come that have a stripped down feel. Up until this point, the majority of Loder’s recordings have had a larger pop sound, but they have always felt that their truest sound is more organic and minimalistic – putting the focus more on the song as opposed to a big production.
‘Modern classic’ is the hybrid genre often mentioned in relation to SoCal’s power trio Filmspeed, and their latest release is a bullseye on target. From the opening riff, the listener is drowned in swagger with echoes of bands like The Black Crowes and Rival Sons while bluntly narrating the mental, physical and literal ‘ups and downs’ of chemical dependency.
Indie Pop’s Grady (Noah Cyrus, Whethan) releases “All In” video–an anthem for new beginnings and newfound love–out now via TMWRK Records
“All In” is an instant mood booster and the visual component directed by Sam Dameshek (Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Sydney Sweeney) amplifies its playful energy. Picking fun at dating app corporations and what ‘The Love Umbrella’ strategy meetings might look like, the video takes you inside the imagined Tinder offices for 5 minutes of silly shenanigans. On the making of the video, Grady say, “My favorite music videos are always one that are cinematic, that tell a story even beyond just the song. That’s what I wanted this music video to be—a platform to tell other stories within the video and for it to be its own little universe. Maybe we’ll spin off one of the skits in there into a tv show one day, who knows.”
Newcomer // emie nathan – “noman” (video)
Spring is upon us, which is often considered a time filled with hope & new beginnings. That being said, newcomer emie nathan’s debut single, noman, feels like the perfect companion for the months ahead with its key message of trying to become more “half-glass-full” after a time most of us haven’t enjoyed much. Even if you’re happy enough, or are happy being sad, this remains a bold, accomplished opening remark from a singer-songwriter with an exceptional, singular voice and simply put; it’s a real banger!
