Villagers announce new album ‘Fever Dreams’ out 8/20, new song and video “The First Day” out today
Today, Conor O’Brien is pleased to announce Villagers’ fifth studio album Fever Dreams which will be released on August 20th via Domino. Escapism is a very necessary pursuit right now and Fever Dreams follows it to mesmerizing effect. It works like all the best records – it becomes a mode of transport; it picks you up from where you are and sets you down elsewhere.
Coinciding with the announcement, O’Brien has also shared the first song from the forthcoming album, “The First Day.” It was inspired by a trip to the fabled Another Love Story festival in County Meath – beginning as a snatched electronic doodle, it morphed into a widescreen, lushly cinematic evocation of the joy in human connection.

AUSTRALIA’S SCIENTISTS RETURN WITH NEW STUDIO ALBUM ‘NEGATIVITY’ JUNE 11 / SHARE VIDEO FOR ‘OUTSIDER’
The bruising 11-track collection features a Scientists configuration much beloved by connoisseurs of the band’s work: singer-guitarist Kim Salmon, lead guitarist Tony Thewlis, and bassist Boris Sujdovic, all veterans of the group’s defining 1981-85 outfit, and drummer Leanne Cowie, who replaced drummer Brett Rixon on the storming 1986 release Weird Love.
About this sophomore album, VOID VATOR say: “We completed writing the album Great Fear Rising a few weeks before our Spring Breakneck tour of March 2020. Little did we know how relevant the album would become as the year progressed from ridiculous to absurd. We recorded this album during late spring to early summer of 2020 with Mike Spreitzer of Devildriver and mixed/mastered with Nick Bellmore of Toxic Holocaust. The album kicks fucking ass.”

New England’s Myart addresses mental health with his new single Easy Remix. The somber instrumental makes you immediately connect to the melancholy lyrics. “The inspiration was my own struggles with depression. I thought what more therapeutic than putting it all on a track. I also thought it would inspire others knowing that depression effects everyone even rap artists who seem to have it together and giant egos” says Myart. Matt Bachmann (Orindal Records/We Be Friends, Big Thief and Mega Bog members) | Shares new single & album details
This is a deeply personal record/first single for Matt who lost his father to ALS in 2013 with this album, to an extent, being a grieving of that loss – tracks here pay tribute to his father in a few different ways but mainly with “Apple Pie” that remembers the baking his father was so fond of, a hobby of his that ran right up until his death, even when parts of his memory were beginning to deteriorate. Matt sculpts these teary ambient-electronic textures with subtle indie-pop sensibilities that sound like they could accompany Miyazaki films.

Evolfo Debut El Oms-Directed Music Video “Give Me Time” via FLOOD Magazine
Expanding on the usual psych rock cocktail of phasers, fuzz, and echo, Evolfo blends in an array of less typical tones and textures such as soaring synths, mandolins, and ominous horns. “When I received the song I immediately liked it”, says the video director & animator Omar “El Oms” Juarez. “I love the way the guitar sounds so melodic. It’s like it’s telling you that summer is around the corner. I love the epic ending and how heavy it sounds. Around the same time I heard the song, I was rewatching the 1952 Mexican movie Los Olvidados. It’s a story about young kids facing everyday struggles with life. The verse that stood out to me was ‘no ones come to rescue me.’ I immediately thought of Los Olvidados and came up with the video concept. I presented it to Evolfo and we started to brainstorm on how we wanted the audience to go on this psychedelic and emotional ride.”

Introducing Smoothboi Ezra; “when it comes to the unique ache of yearning, nobody nails it quite like Ezra” (NME)
From their poster-covered bedroom-meets-recording studio in sleepy Greystones, Ireland, a small coastal town, 19-year-old artist Smoothboi Ezra, writes catchy but subtle tracks; self-deprecating but never sombre; always utterly charming. They offer an often overlooked take on emotional relationships, as Ezra is writing as a person who is gender non-binary and on the autism spectrum. They are helping people who don’t often see themselves represented in the media to hear themselves in music and to know that there are songs which speak to their experience. They are moving the needle on what it means to write a love song.
