Portland ORE duo, the Mistons, will release “World of Convenience” on May 21st. You can hear the first single now.
From Little Beirut a rumble, there at the end of the trail beneath majestic mountains and among the boarded windows a clamor. There at the end of the block on stolen Chinook land in a historic black neighborhood, next to the jazz cat and the drag queen, around the corner from the vanguard of noisemakers and artist from Audubon’s darkest dreams, there on a street of artist and dreamers, part of this community, two Mistons (from the French word but, dumbed down and Americanized) making “old timey” music for the new millennium, a buzzsaw Woody Gutherie, rock and roll that is unapologetic, with no tricks up its sleeve but is honest and humble in its discourse.

To coincide with the release of the track, the video shows the pair in full-on R&B classic mode complete with a white grand piano.” “Just My Type” shortly followed the announcement of Prince Taee’s exclusive label deal with Art@War/Atlantic Records via TML (The Music Life). The Las Vegas-bred rapper celebrated the announcement with the release of the highly anticipated “Free Crack” featuring labelmate YBN Almighty Jay and MyCrazyRO.

El No (ex-The Breeders, Guided By Voices, Bellringer, etc.) release debut album early
“In the true spirit of creating DIY music, the two did it all on their own and on their own terms,” adding, “the production may be lo-fi, but there’s an energetic current that electrifies the songs, from high-jumpin’ sing-song lead single ‘Shinin’ On Me’ (albeit with bleak lyrics about ‘all my friends are dead and gone’) and pumpin’ and tuneful garage rock/power popper ‘Ima Run’ with sneering vocal tone to casual-seguing-into-vivid reminiscing of ‘Fall Back’ with lamenting vocals (‘I already miss you’) and strung out guitars, and the noise rock title track that attacks with frustrated vocals, warped sounds, and deep drum beats.”

Proper Nouns – Feel Free Release date: Friday, April 23rd 2021
As a teenager, Proper Nouns singer/guitarist Spencer Compton was diagnosed with an unusual brain lesion – and briefly became a medical curiosity. Unsure how to treat the novel (but benign) condition, his doctors did what seemed obvious to them: they hustled him into unnecessary surgery. Its vaguely preventative goal failed; afterwards, he was left with epilepsy, memory loss and a second surgery. But, for Compton, it’s the situation’s odd inevitability that continues to haunt. “It was a weird kind of malpractice,” he says. “Like an ideological malpractice through medical health washing – surgeons saying, between the lines, ‘Sure, there’s no symptom to treat, but this is what we do.’ An institutional scam.”

BAAUER & OMEGA SAPIEN ANNOUNCE JOINT EP ‘EASTLIFE ’
Grammy-nominated producer Baauer and Seoul’s hottest new rapper Omega Sapien (leader of the alt k-pop group Balming Tiger) have announced a joint EP Eastlife available June 18th via LuckyMe. With the announcement comes a video for “DDOKBOKKI’, a track that reboots Missy and Timbo energy for 2021 with a braggadocious cut named after the famous fried rice cake dish “떡볶이”. The video sees Omega Sapien’s distinctly new-Korean spin on a rap promo, shot in a quarry by Seoul’s answer to Hype Williams, Jan’Qui (Balming Tiger, Keith Ape). As per all things Omega Sapien – the styling is outstanding: boys draped in skinny jeans and maxi-cardigans hanging off a monster U-haul truck with flaming torches. On the Eastlife EP we hear a rich collaborator doing what he does best. It’s maximal, fun party hip hop dropped on us from the future not aiming to achieve a perfect balance of two artists – on the contrary, they aren’t polite and they aren’t watered down.
