OUT OF NOWHERE: Iranian group premieres new single via MetalSucks
Mashad, Iran-based djent/metalcore band Out of Nowhere has regularly been releasing music and playing live shows since 2010 regardless of the risk of being arrested by the oppressive regime.
Their newest single, “Blind Crow,” is well supplied with suspense, apocalyptic surroundings, violent breakdowns, glass-shattering screams, and syncopated riffs. Crossing the borders of metalcore, djent, alternative rock, and prog, the track upholds the Iranian revolutionists’ ever-evolving sonic dexterity.

NIGHTFALL Streams Album Ahead of Release!
Vocalist Efthimis comments on the stream: “This album is made of anger and hope. Anger about all those stereotypes built around serious subjects affecting all, like depression; and hope for things to change for the better. We sing for younger generations to break down old misconceptions about mental disorders. Music in this album is not following a linear pattern, but rather tries to catch the entire spectrum of mood swings one is experiencing, while in this state. It is a blend of fast and slow parts, heavy and heavier passages, in a natural progress from start to end. Enjoy it and let its message root in you.”
Based in Charlottesville, VA, darzo has mesmerized audiences with metaphor, melody, and rhythm — music that emerges from a deeply interior space in which private meanings become shared experience. Formed in 2016 by Adar Seligman-McComas, darzo is not purely Soul, not simply R&B, not straight-up Jazz. Blending and transcending genres, darzo delivers a silken, yet raw sound that is utterly its own. The band is currently in the process of releasing its first full-length album, which is expected to be available to the public in the winter of 2021.
Oh the Humanity! “Wit’s End” Premiere
There must be something in the waters of Massachusetts because it produces some fantastic melodic hardcore bands and you can add Oh the Humanity! to that list. The band follows in the footsteps of A Wilhelm Scream and No Trigger by blending technical guitar playing at break neck speeds with heavy doses of melody. Maybe it wasn’t the healthiest reaction, but it was my own coping mechanism at the time.”
Twisted Thing shares ‘Sacred Cement’ video dir. by Alli Logout of Special Interest, 7″ out now on CORPUS
Twisted Thing’s demo tape from 2018 has become a fan favorite within NYC’s hardcore punk scene. Recorded in the basement studio at D4MT labs, the demo, released on cassette, really highlights their fast and snotty sound. Though entrenched in the international punk scene, their penchant for ass-beating breakdowns straddles hardcore in a way that’s reminiscent of New York in the 90s.

Grave Flowers Bongo Band Shares “Down Man” Music Video
Los Angeles’ Grave Flowers Bongo Band’s sophomore LP “Strength of Spring” is an inverted pyramid balanced on the headstock of an acoustic guitar, a rainbow painted in campfire smoke, an endless staircase circling into the clouds. That acoustic guitar, perfectly captured here by Ty Segall’s excellently sere and close mic’d production, plays skeleton to these conjurors woolly grooves, and singer Gabe Flores’ thousand-yard moan keeps us guessing as to exactly where this wildebeest is headed.

A Dystopian Instrumental Concept Album – a piece of work that runs a perpetual journey across time & space on an attempt to reconnect with Earth.
After completing the gruelling task of finalizing this piece of work by live sliding in and out on my old cassette mixing desk, it sat gathering dust until I had the fortune to be able to get this in the hands of Andy Jackson. Andy Jackson is a British recording engineer, best known for his work with the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd [Momentary Lapse Of Reason & The Division Bell]. He is also the owner and operator of Tube Mastering, a private studio specializing in recorded music mastering. “Somethings may take a long time, repetitive tasks, listening over & over but to have a finished body of work feels like such an achievement” Lee Davey 2021
