Lockdown NYC music from Kanine Records – Cole Koch

The story behind ‘Lockdown NYC’ is a dramatic but all too familiar one these days. After being booked to play The New Colossus Festival, New York in March 2020, Koch found himself at the heart of one of the pandemic’s most dramatic lockdowns. Eventually Koch and his friends came upon a young couple heading back to Toronto, and managed to smuggle them across the border under some blankets and suitcases. The song is a story of one of the strangest times in recent history.

SUNFIELDS Reveal New Single “Got Some (But It Ain’t Enough)” now

Acid-laced pop SUNFIELDS is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Jason Kent. Although the quartet was born in 2009, three quarters of its members have been playing music on and off together since they were teens. Their tunes carry a classy bombast of chamber rock, the intimacy of a singer songwriter, and the easy-breeziness of vintage pop with some psychedelic undertones thrown in.

Shulman Smith Releases “Mineral King” | Sequoia Parks Conservancy Partnership

Smith, who grew up in Denver, CO, spent much of his youth surrounded by the expansive natural landscapes of the Rocky Mountains – driving in and out of the many mountain passes, hiking to hidden mountain lakes, and embracing the viewpoints that sprinkle the front range – while his imagination transported him to the storied past of the Rocky Mountains and its inhabitants, sparking a lifetime of inspiration. As an adult whose life brought him further West from Colorado to California, Smith found parallel inspiration in the mountains along Highway 395 on the East side of the state: driving beside mountains that held such promise for new settlers – holding complex stories of plunder, preservation, and competing human interests. It was the culmination of a lifetime of mountain folklore that brought “Mineral King” into focus.

LA-Based, Heavy Alt-Rock Project, Soundhoose Announce Anthemic and Blistering Song via Pancakes and Whiskey

“”Devil’s Angel” starts (and ends) most excellently with a simple drum, hand-claps, distorted guitar and low-end bass; then Brandon Smith, AKA Mr Bad Luck, unleashes his fiery and urgent verses on top of it and the result is a foot-tapping, anthemic-rocker that has us singing the chorus by the end of the track.” (Pancakes and Whiskey)

Brooklyn-based, Post-Rock/Shoegaze/Post-Metal Trio, SleapingDreaming Get Surreal on New Video/Single Premiered via V13.net

The band started as an informal side-project focused on experimentation with sound and texture. It initially constituted several members without specific instrument assignments or musical goals. Over time roles within the band became more defined as a two piece focused on a layered live experience with active integration of pre-recorded loops and electronic noise elements. In mid 2017 the band opted to bring on a third member to focus specifically on the low-end. From that point the band took on a more traditional feel, structuring music in the format of post-rock and post metal, with heavy influence from shoegaze. The band’s music is mostly instrumental and tends to be slow moving, defined by hypnotic evolutions, layering and density.
