MIESHA & THE SPANKS – I WANT FIRE

Written during the early stages of the pandemic, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to burn down, but something needed to go. My maternity leave should have ended, so I could go on tour and play rad festivals with my husband on parental leave. But suddenly we were two stay at home parents with two six month old babies, unable to perform or socialize, confined to the same routine, getting in each other’s space and driving each other crazy. As I wrote, it became less about burning down what was pissing me off and more about lighting up my own fire and getting back to our normal.

At this point, we’ve become family and when you play with folks that you care and have love for, the creative atmosphere becomes magical and doing the record at legendary Hyde Street Studio C (where Green Day, Tupac Shakur all recorded) was the cherry on top of the icing and top of the cake!” Purchase the album here on Friday, February 12.

NIGHTFALL Premieres New Song, “Giants of Anger”

Vocalist Efthimis comments on the track: “‘Giants of Anger’ is about Wilhelm’s II (the last German emperor) struggle with Erb’s palsy, and the mental challenges he underwent to overcome it in a world where royal blood ought to be healthy. The song is carrying the frustration and reminds us all that mental disorders make no discrimination.”

Wisconsin-based Alt/Pop-Rock, Self-Proclaimed “Dysfunctional Duo,” TOCK

On the new release, the pair state, “‘Shut My Mouth’ is very relatable in the sense that everyone says things they don’t mean in the heat of the moment. This is the inspiration of the song. However, there is a subtext with the lyric “shut my mouth and keep my distance”, which unintentionally marks up thoughts of today’s challenges.”

Lia Kay Shares “Walk Away”

Lia Kay is a Canadian musician, singer & songwriter based out of Southern Ontario. A classically-trained pianist since age seven and a songwriter by 12, Lia went on to compete all over Russia, winning various competitions and festivals before relocating with her family to Canada where she continued her musical education through the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Predominantly centred around pop music, Lia’s songs have an electronic element to them with confessional lyrics that tell a story. Her new single, “Walk Away,” is about loving someone so fiercely that you struggle to walk away from them, even though you know you have to in order for them to see themselves through your eyes; to see how extraordinary they truly are.

Timid, The Brave shares new video for “St. Maria” – out today!

New single, “St. Maria,” was first penned a couple of years ago during one of the warmest November days on record – so warm that the rose bushes had woken back up and started blooming again. For Timid, the Brave, it felt like one of those moments that could be interpreted as a divine sign, where the universe is trying to tell you something. Afterwards, he started seeing meaning everywhere he looked.

Rockshots Records: BLUE HOUR GHOSTS Posts Lyric Video “Shine”, New Album “Due” Out Feb 12th

“Shine is a melancholic andante/mid-tempo rocker with a “grungy” feel, introduced by piano and vocals, before a riveting guitar riff sets on; then, a subtle, atmospheric verse makes way for a truly powerful and dramatic chorus; the song ends with a final climax that brings the listener back to the initial melodies in a circular fashion. The track is literally packed with hooks and melodies that greatly enrich the musical fabric, sustaining Ricky’s wholehearted singing. In spite of its somber tone, the song is about finding the courage to accept our flaws and unlock all the beautiful things we keep inside ourselves, to overcome our fears, our sense of inadequateness or incompleteness, and the cages sometimes relationships bind us to, which can smother our will and diminish our self-esteem. It’s an exhortation to take the initiative, bear the suffering and then find out how an ugly duckling can become a swan, even through pain and waiver.”

While She Sleeps Share New Song “YOU ARE ALL YOU NEED”

“We somehow managed to inject enough personal inspiration from each member for it to completely embody ‘the Sleeps sound’ with ease,” says guitarist Sean Long. “We are always trying to express a certain kind of emotion or internal insight and sometimes you really hit the nail on the head, expressing it how you imagined, and other times you miss it completely. Well, this time we hit it dead on, with no room for speculation. The song says it how it is and reminds us to stop looking outwards for approval and validation. The video is a color explosion from start to finish and, with the current state of this dull, bleak world, we think it’s going to be the color everyone needs to illuminate their spirits, even if it’s only for three minutes.”

Toledo today debuted their video for new song “Sunday Funday” via a Consequence Of Sound ‘Origins’ feature, and the sweetly sad, yet ultimately hopeful video can also now be seen HERE. “‘Sunday Funday’ deals with navigating familial alcoholism in a new relationship.
