Wacotron Prepares for “Take Off” With an Ethereal, Southside-Produced Banger

Blessed with a natural charisma, Wacotron is winning fans in Texas and beyond with his drawly delivery and polished bars. Contemplating the philosophical implications of his impending success, Wacotron shares “Take Off,” his hard-hitting and ethereal new single. Jon Foreman Shares “Side by Side (feat. Madison Cunningham)” Song & Video Out Today; “Departures” out 2/12

“Why do I pretend to be something that I’m not? What am I running from? What am I hiding? Maybe death can offer some perspective. Yes, friends and enemies: we will all be buried side by side. The deep offenses the past: buried. The anger, the pain: buried. The pride and shame, all of it: buried. Side by side. How can I see today for what it really is? How can I see myself for who I really am? Sometimes I see a beauty that shines through the moment. It’s a light that shines through in spite of me. It’s not a beauty that I can conjure up, rather, it’s a light that shines through without effort. I see it in the sunset; I see it in children; I see it even in the ones who might call me the enemy. And this beauty, this joyful abundance is most evident when I am able to embrace the gift of the moment.” – Jon Foreman

On “Wishing Well,” Organic Records’ Jeremy Garrett sounds like an artist with his soul on fire. Following the lyric-centered minimalism of “The World Keeps Turning Around,” the new single is another foray into the technological wizardry that ties together his studio work and live appearances, utilizing layered loops of guitar and mandolin to create a funky bed for powerfully emotive vocals and edgy, wailing fiddle. The result is an intense performance that sounds more like an entire band than just one musician.

SPACE CADET Release New Song/Video for “Bad Luck”

Space Cadet happened by accident. Friends of almost 25 years, Dave Walsh and Matt Hock had each been writing and recording eerily similar songs, completely oblivious to each other’s work. What’s all the more surprising is that it wasn’t the punk of The Explosion (Virgin, Jade Tree), the band they formed together with friends in 1998. Instead, the music was indicative of other sounds they’re into – post-punk, new wave, Brit Rock – not to mention their shared obsession with guitar pedals. From their respective homes of Clinton, Massachusetts and Brooklyn, Dave and Matt have created lush soundscapes (“Forever for a While,” “Safe and Sound”), dark synth dirges (“No Accident,” “Lose Control”) and anxious anthems (“Scream for You”).

A thick and distorted riff powers “Peach” as the song dips in and out of a chugging groove and hypnotic vocals from singer and guitarist Pete Loeffler.
