David Huckfelt Reinvents Classic Cowboy Ballad “Bury Me Not” (The Dying Cowboy)

Singer/songwriter/activist David Huckfelt (of acclaimed Minneapolis group The Pines) reinterprets the definitive cowboy ballad “Bury Me Not” (The Dying Cowboy) on his upcoming album Room Enough, Time Enough out February 26th. “Bury Me Not” (often called “The Cowboy’s Lament” & “Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie”) is considered one of the most famous folk songs in the American songbook and has been covered by Johnny Cash, Colter Wall, Burl Ives and many others. The video for Huckfelt’s rendition was filmed on Tohono O’odham Indigenous land along the US border just outside of Tucson, Arizona; watch HERE.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD TO RELEASE “MY SAVIOR” ALBUM OF GOSPEL HYMNS ON MARCH 26

Seven-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood will follow the extraordinary success of her recent Christmas album, My Gift, with an album of gospel hymns, titled My Savior. The new album will be released on CD and Digital March 26, 2021, just prior to the Easter holiday, and on vinyl April 30. My Savior is co-produced by Underwood and GRAMMY® Award winner David Garcia, with whom she co-produced her critically acclaimed 2018 album Cry Pretty, her seventh album to be certified Platinum or Multi-Platinum by the RIAA.

Paul Jacobs of Pottery announces new LP, shares first single/video “Half Rich Loner”

Montreal-based musician Paul Jacobs returns with a music video – which he drew, animated and directed himself – for “Half Rich Loner,” a rambling road runner classic in the style of 60s icons Canned Heat and JJ Cale. Following a prolific run of garage rock releases and an album and EP with his band Pottery (in which he plays drums), this new song is the first single off Pink Dogs on the Green Grass, his upcoming album and debut Blow The Fuse release, due out April 30th. Mastered by Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers, the album is available for pre-order as of today.

Venus Furs Share “New Inspiration” Video Via Under The Radar

Today, Venus Furs share the video for “New Inspiration,” a psychedelic exploration into the soul of the track. Under The Radar premiered the music video with high praise, commending how the song “swirls with flickering intensity, surrounded by layers of distorted guitars and a hazy psychedelic undertone,” while the visuals “conjure the same nocturnal haze as the track itself.”

Bernice Share “It’s Me, Robin” via NPR’s All Songs Considered

In December, Toronto’s Bernice announced their forthcoming LP Eau de Bonjourno, the follow up to their celebrated 2018 LP Puff: In the air without a shape. To mark the announce they shared the single “Groove Elation,” a song that “gently tear[s] the roof off” (FADER), was described as a track that exemplifies the way “resounding joy is…essential to Bernice’s charm” by Pitchfork, and landed on Stereogum’s 5 Best Tracks of the Week round up. Today, the band are sharing the album’s second single “It’s Me, Robin” which was first heard on today’s edition of NPR’s All Songs Considered.
