Texas based rock band AMERICAN MERIT has released the official music video for their Southern Blues infused, debut single, “City.”
“City is a song that was 4 years in the making from conception to finished product. Once we finally got together we finished it in a few days. I carried that rhythm around in the back of my head like loose change in my pocket. Whenever I’d get bored or needed something to work on, there it was…” – Alex Smith

“I could get a tattoo in Paris’ for me, feels like the heart of the record. The name came from an inside joke made years ago between myself and a dear friend during a trip to Europe. I wrote this song on a train leaving Paris for a neighboring town in the country. Although it sounds glamorous, I remember that train ride as one of the lowest points in my life emotionally, after being subject to a traumatic experience in the city the night before. At that time, I was in a deep spiral concerning my expression. I’ve struggled with others’ perceptions and received a lot of crap for my “feminine” qualities. This song is a dissection of all of the pain surrounding my expression and how I relate to masculine and feminine energies.”

With an evocative and emotional video directed by her sister, Ishana Night Shyamalan, Saleka’s “Mr. Incredible” tells the story of a couple whose love is stifled by their inability to communicate.
