Tigers Jaw Debut New Single “Lemon Mouth” via SPIN

Tigers Jaw today debuted their new single “Lemon Mouth” from their forthcoming album I Won’t Care How You Remember Me due out on March 5th via Hopeless Records. Originally a demo by vocalist/keyboardist Brianna Collins and bassist Colin Gorman, and later finalized as a full-band with vocalist/guitarist Ben Walsh and drummer Teddy Roberts, the driving and emotive track premiered alongside an early feature at SPIN. “The lyrics for ‘Lemon Mouth’ are very personal and introspective. Sometimes self-reflection only happens for me when I’m thinking about characteristics that I want to change about myself,” explains Collins. “It can look like this sort of scanning of my own habits, things that are so consistent and familiar- but I can’t figure out the reason why I do them.”

NZCA LINES (Metronomy, Christine & tQ) | Shares “Prisoner of Love”

“Prisoner of Love” gets a pretty neat boogie makeover from the London four-piece here that calls to mind classic 12″ dub mixes by the likes of Model 500 or Afrika Bambaataa – the collaboration came about after a friendship between Lovett and Django Django grew when the former supported the band on tour.

“I’m beyond excited to be part of such a special project,” said Stanaj of their collaboration. “When Tommee called me, I knew he had something really special. The goal was to make the best version of the song – ‘Noel (He Is Born)’ – as possible and I think he did just that. This cinematic take on a Christmas classic makes it even more beautiful than ever. I’m grateful for my friendship and this collaboration with Tommee. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Basia Bulat unveils new video for “Love is at the End of the World”

“It began as a prayer of gratitude to friends who helped me through one of my darkest moments,” explains Bulat. “It became a promise to myself to always choose love over fear. We filmed this video in February before the world changed a thousand times over. It’s been such a hard year for so many – whenever I feel like the world is ending I know that at the same time so much love is being built into a new one.The video’s dancers—Eryn Tempest and Hanako Hoshimi-Caines—brought a special energy and a spirit of rebirth to the video. I worked with Nora Rosenthal and Brian Sokolowski on all the videos for this album, and I’m thankful for Nora’s beautiful direction on this one and Brian’s dancing while holding a really heavy camera!”

Childe Shares New Track “Two Thirds”

“Two Thirds” illuminates Childe’s meditative lyricism and finesse for sensitivity through soulful, velvety electronics, laying bare his feelings towards his father.

He says about the track: “‘Two Thirds is a song I tried to write for ages. It’s about going into reverse. It’s quite nostalgic grief, so there’s comfort in it. I started it in my bedroom so there are a bunch of distorted vocals in there recorded on a 58. Then we recorded it in LA in January just before COVID stopped the world. We wanted the song to grow the whole way through, so by the end it’s totally massive – sirens and all.”

Directed by Brent Campanelli (an L.A.-based filmmaker/photographer known for his work with artists like Ashe), the video for “Patience” finds Suaste alone at a dinner table set for two, complete with lit candles and a vase full of red roses. Over the course of the R&B-laced and irresistibly catchy track, the video follows Suaste through a series of reflective moments: listening to vinyl with his headphones on, daydreaming in his bedroom, dancing poolside, gazing into the bathroom mirror and turning his toothbrush into a make-believe microphone. Although the video perfectly captures the lonesome mood at the heart of “Patience,” Suaste infuses every shot with his radiant energy and endearing presence.

RS Country Music Picks for the Week of November 30th

Bear’s Den release new EP ‘Christmas, Hopefully’ today through Communion Records

Speaking about the new track ‘Favourite Patient’, the band said, “I wrote this song about my fiancée, she’s a junior doctor. The last couple of years of her training has involved working everywhere from A & E to Psychiatry Wards. I wrote this song one night after she told me that her favourite patient she’d been looking after for a while had passed away while at work that day. How it affected her, really got me thinking about the emotional and mental toll that doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals all go through every day, how crucially important they are and how this year has highlighted how much we all rely on them. Given that the NHS is criminally underfunded by this Conservative Government – we as a band wanted to show our solidarity, gratitude and support especially with the cases rising going into the Winter months. All proceeds from pre-orders of the E.P will be going to the fantastic NHS Charities Together who are helping to support NHS staff and volunteers during the Covid-19 Crisis.”
