Speaking about the records themes and influences, Thea said “Land of Nod is my debut mini album inspired by my childhood favourite movies and books. My thought behind the concept: when you’re a child typically your parent/guardian would read you a book before bed, leaving the child to fall asleep thinking/dreaming of goblins, fairies, dragons etc… translate this to adult hood- we have no bedtime story, we all go to bed thinking about real life problems, wishes and hopes. The project was carefully put together with a sound/lyric pallet I felt mimicked the concept perfectly. Inspired by the likes of ‘Marry Poppins’, ‘chitty chitty bang bang’ etc- I’m trying to recreate that feeling we all get when we see an old film on TV from our childhood, or hear an old song/smell/see someone we used to know etc. This is such a universal feeling that we all love so wanted to get that across in the music.”

The Smashing Pumpkins Release New Album, ‘CYR’ Today
“CYR represents, at least symbolically, the makings of a dissociative life, which best as we can tell IS modern life: as presented through a variety of sources; past, present, and future.” Explains Corgan. “Where even our own story as a band is often represented as something more grotesque and glorious than we actually experienced it. Which, it should be noted, is fine. Because we’ve never fought the dream as a collective, or it’s prickly twin (hence the snazzy title of one of our earliest records). So in CYR you get 20 pieces of fractured ideology, neither here nor there but that’s sort of the point. To ape that which in the post-technology age is not so easily defined and pinned down, but can be shown in a lithe, restless melody”.

We randomly started piecing some tracks together and Roads came out. Then we just rode that momentum right into Detours which is part two” says Kaspa. Overcoming setbacks plays a major theme in strengthening their bond. “Unfortunately life took a turn and I had to push music aside. But luckily Kaspa helped me back on my feet and after recording a couple of songs we realized we had something special” says Minus.
