Out Today // Thea – “Land of Nod” (Album)

Speaking about the records themes and influences, Thea said “Land of Nod is my debut mini album inspired by my childhood favourite movies and books. My thought behind the concept: when you’re a child typically your parent/guardian would read you a book before bed, leaving the child to fall asleep thinking/dreaming of goblins, fairies, dragons etc… translate this to adult hood- we have no bedtime story, we all go to bed thinking about real life problems, wishes and hopes. The project was carefully put together with a sound/lyric pallet I felt mimicked the concept perfectly. Inspired by the likes of ‘Marry Poppins’, ‘chitty chitty bang bang’ etc- I’m trying to recreate that feeling we all get when we see an old film on TV from our childhood, or hear an old song/smell/see someone we used to know etc. This is such a universal feeling that we all love so wanted to get that across in the music.”

Which, it should be noted, is fine. Because we’ve never fought the dream as a collective, or it’s prickly twin (hence the snazzy title of one of our earliest records). So in CYR you get 20 pieces of fractured ideology, neither here nor there but that’s sort of the point.
