Today we’re excited to introduce you to Neska Rose. The young singer-songwriter was born in Tel Aviv, and moved to Los Angeles with her family at the age of ten. In the span of a few years she’s honed her voice and songwriting talent into a formidable force. Accompanied by her twin sister Libi, who sings harmony and plays piano, Neska’s coming of age songs combine smokey melodies with energetic acoustic guitars.

On her latest single, the title track “The Repel Of A Young Girl”, Rose imagines learning from her past mistakes so much, that a future version of herself wouldn’t even recognize the person she once was. Two stalwarts of the DIY punk/hardcore scene, DC’s The Mostly Dead and RVA’s The Donalds are teaming up for a new spilt EP titled ‘Two Handsome’ set for release digitally on November 27, with limited edition color vinyl to follow in December.

For some, punk rock is a full-time job; for DC’s The Mostly Dead, it’s one of many. Graphic Designers, Editors, IT guys—the members of The Mostly Dead handle those obligations and more during business hours. Then, they head to the practice space for their other job: punk rock. All the members of TMD are doing double-duty, much like their van, which hauls them around on tour when it’s not being used for the daily commute. The demands of day to day life aren’t something to work around for The Mostly Dead–they’re just part of who they are.

Ben Labat Releases Heartfelt New Single, “Rocket Heart,”

The Louisiana-based songwriter has led an eventful existence, recorded with Greg Ladanyi, sang a duet with Jackson Browne, and the new series of singles reflects the influence of the journey.

In fact, Ben is a huge Jackson Browne fan, and often uses conversational questions about Browne’s music catalogue to gauge an individual’s musical prowess. In the second verse of “Rocket Heart,” there is a cheeky reference to Jackson Browne’s 1976 album The Pretender: “We got lost on the way back, Cutting through Chinatown with your sister’s twin mattress. You and your Rocket Heart, Say you ain’t never heard The Pretender?”

Of the winding path that led to his latest collection of compelling new Americana material, a series of three songs, Ben says that it’s been “an interesting road full of heartfelt greetings, cold goodbyes, successes, failures, falling and getting up. But I truly believe the ringing in the ears is worth a song in the heart.”

John Baumann Releases New Double Single ‘A/B Sessions: Vol. 1’

Texas-based singer-songwriter John Baumann has had an eventful year. He released his full-length album Country Shade in June, and also joined The Panhandlers with fellow Texans Josh Abbott, William Clark Green and Cleto Cordero. Never one to slow down, he’s wrapping up the year with the release of A/B Sessions: Vol. 1, out today. The double single features songs “Texas Dead” and “Tokyo Smile.”

Though the two tracks don’t fit together thematically and are only sonically connected by their string arrangements, it was an intentional choice for Baumann who wanted to harken back to the days of 45s.

Co-written by Kane Kennedy and Torian Brewer, ‘The Betweeners’ sees The Bonnie Doons embrace more pop sounds and progressions in their songwriting and arranging. Black Trans artist, Heather Hills, releases electro-pop/rap single and video

Electro-pop/rap artist, Heather Hills, has released the new single and video, “Get Dun,” on the Trans Trenderz label. If you’re looking for trauma porn, “Get Dun” is not the song for you. “I got a cute beat and I just wanted to make the girls dance!” Hills says. “I wanted to show JOY, because that’s not the narrative people look for from us.” Sonically inspired by Azealia Banks, all of the writers and producers of the song are Black Trans people.

Uni Share “DNA” Video Via Alt Press, New Track/Video Out Now Via Chimera Music

Following up on her Smashing Pumpkins video “Wyttch,” director / musician Charlotte Kemp Muhl presents “DNA” from her NYC-based glam rock trio UNI. Alt Press premiered the video and lauded it as “another manifestation of the bizarre.. the video reminds us of a creepy elective surgery clinic this side of Marilyn Manson’s ‘Mechanical Animals’ phase.”

Jordan Rabinowitz Releases Intimate New EP A Couple Songs

DC-based singer/songwriter Jordan Rabinowitz has released his debut solo EP A Couple Songs, an intimate five song collection about the intersections of love and loneliness. Prism Reviews say “Each song is a world unto itself…It’s like listening to something by Dawes, or Hamilton Leithauser, or Devandra Banhart. Real songwriting.”

“After years of playing bass to support other artists, it took a lot to step up and take full creative ownership of this project,” says Jordan. “I had to relearn how to be a musician, to find my own voice. Finding that courage didn’t come easily, it came hand in hand with self doubt and fear but I pushed through it and A Couple Songs was born on the other end.”

Gammer and Henry Fong come together on their versatile single “The Feeling,” premiered this morning via YourEDM. Bright staccato piano and spirited vocals set-up the track, before it drops into a thunderous four-on-the-floor electro-hardstyle stomper.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Henry ever since I first heard his ‘Mi Gente’ remix,” said Gammer. “Working with him has been amazing. I’d been trying to finish this track for ages and immediately when he got on and added his magic of distinctive old school pianos and fast paced house drums I knew it was right. ‘The Feeling’ is exactly that for me, a song to smile with.”

Sara Noelle is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and creator of the print literary journal Lyrics as Poetry.

Her covers EP, Four Songs (out today!), revisits a few timely classics for this moment of tumult, including a reimagined version of John Lennon’s “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night,” as well as songs by Oasis, Judee Sill and The Youngbloods. Recorded remotely during quarantine, the project was produced by Dan Duszynski, who also worked with Sara on her full-length album Cover the Blue.
