Punk band DRONES have announced that their second album – ‘Our Hell Is Right Here’ – will be released February 12, 2021 via Thousand Islands Records in North America and Lockjaw Records in UK/EU. “It’s been a pretty rough ride for the past couple of years,” says vocalist Lois McDougall when looking back on the journey the band have been on to get to this point. “But I struggle with claiming my problems and sadness as valid because they are disproportionate to the danger and loss that many face every day. It got to the point where I was almost ashamed to write songs about my own life. However, I’m learning that personal care and self-worth is not something to be diminished.

John Calvin Abney will return with his fifth studio album Familiar Ground this Friday, November 20, via Black Mesa Records. T. Evann describes ‘Clearer’ as a song about “Seeing the importance of creative breaks and how it can develop and improve productivity.” He continues: “Clearer was written after a short period of writer’s block. John Mayall to Release Single Featuring Buddy Miller
John Mayall is pleased to announce the release of his latest single, “I’m as Good as Gone” out on all platforms, Friday, November 20th via Forty Below Records in honor of his 87th birthday.
The Godfather of British Blues serves up a deep and funky groove for a song about love on the outs. Written by Grammy winner Bobby Rush, the track features Americana legend Buddy Miller on lead baritone guitar with Mayall mixing it up on Hammond B3 organ. Also, on hand are Mayall’s dynamic Chicago rhythm section of Greg Rzab on bass guitar and Jay Davenport on drums, along with Austin’s Carolyn Wonderland on guitar. The track was produced by Eric Corne and John.
Adams Traktor is a music project formed by JR Smith from Seattle, WA, to explore, expand, and in many ways, bend the music genres that have influenced alternative modern music. The latest single from Adams Traktor, “Time To Wake Up” from his forthcoming Quench album, is being released November 27, 2020 by Dark Spark Music and The Orchard.
Big Takeover referenced “’80s-era Bowie” as part of the track’s overall theme and also stated that the single “slinks by on a sultry rhythmic pace, lightly picked to zippy guitar lines, dreamy synths glow, restless drum beat, and ticking cymbals accents.” Spacette gave a little bit of backstory on the single as well: “’City of Gold’ is the first song we started on and it’s a sort of center of gravity for the sound of the EP. The hybrid disco beat meets Toto-ish shuffle was a fun discovery with Tony and Heather slaying the synth solo — actually two killer solos interwoven.”

Forrest Films, an American film production, financing and distribution company, announces the release of Alex Ranarivelo’s feature film The Ride for digital streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film was produced by Forrest Lucas, founder of Lucas Oil Products and Forrest Films, and will be distributed by Roadside Attractions. The inspirational true story, which features an all-star cast led by Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Sasha Alexander and Shane Graham, recounts the life of extreme sports legend John Buultjens. The Ride is now available on the Amazon platform beginning Friday, November 13, 2020

Rucci Shares “Complicated” Video & Announces Deluxe ‘Midget’ LP
“We only win or losing ties, n****/I’m ’bout my business, suit and tie, n****/Never complainin’, I’m just grateful I’m alive,” Inglewood’s Rucci raps on “Complicated,” the opening track from his recently released sophomore album Midget. “Complicated” is emblematic of where Rucci is at in his career and where he’s headed—he’s gained fame and critical praise for his presence on the mic, but he won’t feel fulfilled until he’s able to fully provide for himself and his people. In the video, he takes it back to Day 1, with photos of a young, gleeful Rucci, before fast-forwarding to today, celebrating his successes with his Day 1s outside next to a coupe with the butterfly doors up.
GRAMMY® nominated and Dove Award-winning recording artist Ty Herndon recently released a duet with Emmy and Tony award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth, titled, “Orphans of God,” and subsequently has released a lyric video for the song (available here). Created by Paul Cardall, the video has been uploaded on Herndon’s YouTube page. The single, which also features award-winning pianist and composer Paul Cardall on piano, will be featured on Herndon’s upcoming Christmas album, Regifted, set for release on Friday, Nov. 27. Matt Berninger (The National) joins Hannah Georgas for “Pray It Away” duet
In September, Toronto’s Hannah Georgas released her latest LP, the Aaron Dessner-produced All That Emotion on Dessner’s label Brassland (Bartees Strange, Buke & Gase) and Toronto indie stalwart Arts & Crafts. The album was the best received entry in her career to date, earning a wave of positive attention from outlets like The Guardian who called the album “magisterial pop for introverts,” Pitchfork, NPR, The New York Times, FADER, Stereogum, New York Magazine, Consequence of Sound and Paste among many others. Today, Georgas is sharing a new version of a track from her album that she co-wrote with Dessner called “Pray It Away,” performed as a duet with The National frontman Matt Berninger.
