Songwriter/Producer Eric Dash Discusses Industry’s Changing Climate via Broken 8 Records
Eric Dash, born Eric Friedman, grew up writing and recording EPs in Philadelphia and New Jersey, and playing countless shows around the Tri-State area. In 2012, Dash was discovered by notable producer Jack Joseph Puig (John Mayer/Black Crowes/Weezer). Dash and Puig worked together for 5 years, releasing singles like “One More Love Song” which reached the Nielsen Top 40 Radio Chart. Dash describes working with Puig as “going to a one-on-one master’s program with a true genius.” As the music landscape changed drastically in that time, streaming Drake hits like Fake Love and Trap was everywhere, Dash felt singer-songwriter music and rock had pretty much been silenced, so he started to produce himself. In addition to self-producing, Dash has been producing up-and-coming artists, including Kaatii, who has been featured on iHeartradio, a CW morning show, and numerous Spotify playlists, as well as helping an artist produce and write the Celine Fashion Show.
Buffalo Rockers HEARTS & HAND GRENADES Roar with Nineteen-Twenties Gangsters in new “The In Crowd” Music Video & Single
“The In Crowd is about a secret club known only to its members, which also happens to be a den of assassins” says lead vocalist/bassist Stephanie Wlosinski. “It explains their ruthless nature and the code that they follow to be a member of this elite club. The strong contrast between the verses and choruses deliver the restraint that the assassins must obey while at the club, versus their true nature while on the hunt for their targets.” Guitarist Mike Bress adds, “the video was filmed in an 8′ x 12′ room that was just wide enough to fit the drum kit so we had some fun squishing in there without hitting each other with our instruments. We also experimented with color vs. the black and white shots, which separated the band from the story scenes. Overall, it delivered the 1920’s feel we were looking for!”

In the words of Sweet Lizzy Project frontwoman Lisset Diaz, “My mom always gave me a present for Christmas. We never pretended that some fat guy called Santa Claus had come during the night and left the present under the Christmas tree, for when I was little, my family couldn’t even afford a tree. Although there were no decorations on the streets or lights in public parks, no Christmas songs playing and some of my neighbors in my little town in Havana didn’t even know what Christmas was, my mom always said ‘Feliz Navidad’ on Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) and gave me a new toy, a necklace, a book or something as our little family tradition. It was not until I moved to Nashville that I realized how big and imposing the ritual of Christmas was. It literally was like… ‘And so this is Christmas?!’ The food, the decorations, the symbolism, the music, the family gathering, the wrapping paper… everything was so new, so beautiful and, at times, overwhelming. It was also my first Christmas away from home, so I remember the mix of feelings: the excitement about my future and all the new things I was discovering, and the sadness of being away from home and the people I loved. “
