“Funeral Suit is a candid and unvarnished look at undeniable talent of the musically possessed joined with decades of disciplined playing. There couldn’t be a more suitable home befitting these graceful songs than here.” — Riff Relevant

Says TONY REED about this new song: “To me, Moonlighting is the most intimate song on the record. The sound of the recording gives you the feeling of sitting right in front of me. Like many of the songs from this record, it was recorded only minutes after the arrangement was completed. At times the lyrics seem nonsensical, but I believe them to be about promises broken and kept, and the results of both.”

On this record Ivey takes a wider look at the world around us—the landscape, the people that populate it, and the ways in which we help each other survive against all odds. “Though Ivey wrote the material two years ago, the songs are prescient, deconstructing the ills of the day — among them racism, xenophobia and the growing wealth gap — with a critic’s precision and a poet’s compassion,” declared the Nashville Scene.

Today, London alt-pop project Belle Mt. shares the transcendent “This Kind of Heavy” via Bee & El Records/Warner Records. Powered by pensive keys and Matt Belmont’s expressive voice, the single alternately simmers and soars.

The rousing melody at the heart of “This Kind of Heavy” compliments Belmont’s poetic lyrics, which circle the weighty possibility we may all just be on our own in this universe. The lush arrangement evokes both that sense of personal isolation and the imposing vastness of the cosmos, as it blossoms from gentle solo piano into a cinematic full-band crescendo. “It’s becoming oh so clear that we are on our own out here,” he sings during the dreamy finish.

Today, Grammy Award winning R&B artist and songwriter Leon Bridges and Lucky Daye release “All About You”. Listen to “All About You” here.

Regarding “All About You,” Leon says, “For this song, we set out to bring back the energy of some of the 90’s R&B greats we grew up listening to. The way Lucky and I met was completely organic. One night when I was out on the town in LA I ran into a friend of Lucky’s who suggested that we should collaborate. I was totally down but wanted our connection to be natural and chill. The day after, I was in the studio and Lucky randomly shows up. I grabbed my guitar and we tossed around some melodies and lyrics and “All About You” was born.”

Fires In Heaven brings a compelling progression to the classic sound SALEM pioneered. “There has always been a lot of surrender in our music,” the band state. “People tend to pick up on the negative aspects, and in the past, that was what we were going through. But surrender has always been the core element.” Now consisting of Jack Donoghue and John Holland, early sessions took place at a cabin in Northern Michigan, with the bulk of the album being recorded on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. The album was completed with Henry Laufer (Shlohmo) in Los Angeles, and mastered by the legendary Mike Dean. Occupying a liminal space between connection and isolation, indulgence and sobriety, Fires In Heaven represents the culmination of a long term recording process, a talisman of and testament to Jack and John’s creative partnership and enduring friendship.

“One of my favorite parts of making this album was getting back in with my brother Mustard and just making hits after hits, like we’ve been doing for the last decade. The song needed the frequency of a strong woman, so I had to call my sis Jhené who came in and killed it like only she can do. “By Yourself” is an ode to all the amazing women, especially all the single women and the single mothers, who do this thing called life on their own. Especially now more than ever. Ladies if you’re handling your responsibilities by yourself, just know we see you and appreciate you.”
