He was based on the old time depressive writers I love. I like playing him the best because he feels the most like my masculine form,” explains Loveless. “In the video I also play his lover who is tired of his shit and goes on apparently a very long walk. During the filming I was not drinking, so all we had when he ‘pours the booze down the drain’ was a bottle of non-alcoholic spirits, which always makes me laugh.”

In speaking with David Fricke yesterday on SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio, Adria notes, “We were very resourceful about trying to create a character that could be assigned to anyone. That’s why Virginia in this video is very mysterious but she has her little glimpses of characters. We really worked to cast someone authentic—that felt like they were really feeling their feelings and someone that you could believe. We really wanted the song to do the heavy lifting in this video, and sort of step out of the way and just give it something to breathe with.” Seliger furthers, “The one idea that kept coming back to both of us is that we really want Tom to be narrating the story. We really want to hear his voice as he runs you through this journey that this woman is having.” Watch/share the video HERE.

Musicians Are Collaborating Remotely; But Are Their Credits Protected?
When a violinist in lockdown because of the pandemic was asked to compose music for a secret project, the agreeable musician went to work, even though he had no idea where the finished product would turn up.
As it happened, he was working on Taylor Swift’s new Folklore album – and his name and contribution appeared appropriately in the album’s liner notes.
Someone, clearly, was keeping proper records to make sure credit went where credit was due.
