DAN WEISS STAREBABY: WBGO Premieres “Head Wreck”
Tomorrow, New York City-based drummer DAN WEISS and his all-star STAREBABY lineup will release their second album, Natural Selection, through jazz label Pi Recordings. The collective sees DAN WEISS joined by Ben Monder on guitar, Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas) on bass, and both Matt Mitchell and Craig Taborn on keyboards, pianos, and electronics. WBGO has unveiled the new single “Head Wreck” through an exclusive premiere on the eve of Natural Selection’s release.
In the wake of the tragic deaths of fellow Texan musicians, vocalist Riley Gale (POWER TRIP) and guitarist Wade Allison (IRON AGE), TEAR DROP is paying homage to the hometown friends with a cathartic cover of TYPE O NEGATIVE’s song “Love You To Death.” The track was first revealed at RevolverMag.com and can be found on the band’s upcoming EP, “Did You Wanna Love Me To Death,” that’s out on September 25th via Static Era Records.

YOUNG NUDY RETURNS WITH NEW TRACK AND VIDEO FOR “ALL WHITE”
2019 proved to be a breakout year for Nudy. Sli’merre, his collaborative album with Pi’erre Bourne, was released to critical acclaim, with Pitchfork writing, “In an era when so many rappers just show up and are suddenly stars, Nudy’s rise over the last four years has been refreshingly organic.” He was also featured on two songs from Dreamville’s Grammy-nominated album Revenge of the Dreamers, “Sunset” and “Down Bad”, the latter of which earned Nudy his first ever Grammy nomination for Rap Song. SK8 UNVEILS NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “HOW IT BE”
Known for merging hypnotic rap and otherworldly R&B crooning over smoked-out landscapes, SK8 has spent countless hours perfecting his craft. Originally an aspiring pro basketball player, SK8’s trajectory changed after attending Wiz Khalifa’s Waken Baken tour in 2011. Shortly thereafter, the Omaha, Nebraska native was inspired to pursue music and went on to release several independent mixtapes and teamed up with fellow hometown sensation Jack & Jack for the gold-certified single “Like That.”
CHROME WAVES: Treble Premieres “Spoonfed” Single
An album full of dynamic aggression and brooding melody, CHROME WAVES’ Where We Live offers six new songs which delve further into post-black metal and post-rock territory. The lineup for the album sees new drummer Dustin Boltjes (Demiricous, Wretch, ex-Skeletonwitch) joining James Benson (Amiensus), and Jeff Wilson (Deeper Graves, ex-Nachtmystium, ex-Wolvhammer). The drums were recorded by Daniel Farnsworth at Gravity Studio in Chicago (Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Josh Homme), and the rest of the album was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jeff Wilson at Disorder Recordings. The album features guest contributions of cello from Christopher Brown (Kakophonix) and vocals from Kim Dylla (ex-GWAR) and is completed with art and layout by Brian Sheehan/Legerdemain.

Los Angeles indie pop duo Dizzy Spells announced a new single, “Night Owl,” with a premiere on Vents Magazine ahead of their new album out in November.
“‘Night Owl’ captures the genre-bending spirit of the band with high pitch vocals reminiscent of Glass Animals [and] some of the most fun and upbeat melodies,” Vents’ RJ Frometa writes on the single.
Following advance singles “Oh No!”, “Hiya”, and “Pool,” the premiere of “Night Owl” also comes with the announcement of the band’s long-awaited debut, A Fearful Leap Into The Dark, out on November 20th. Writing from a dilapidated, cramped cabin in Calabasas, Deskins and Stover scrapped and refined over 30 demos for AFLITD into a tight eight song set.

Emma Kay, a sophomore at the Orange County School of the Arts, has been singing since she could walk. She plays guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, and clarinet. She was lucky enough to have access to private lessons for some of these instruments, but she recognized that this was not a reality for the majority of children her age. In July of 2020, Emma met Jane Park, a Junior at Homestead High School, at a University of California Los Angeles songwriting intensive. Jane is the executive director of the Northern California Chapter of Notelove. After learning more about Notelove, an organization that provides free music education, Emma decided to work with Jane to expand their services to Southern California. Emma quickly realized that managing an entire team is difficult work, so she enlisted Rebecca Ritchie, a sophomore at Aliso Niguel High School and Emma’s best friend, to be her associate director. Rebecca has been singing, acting, and dancing for ten years.

The Birds of a Feather EP is the first part of a two-part release, fully called Birds of a Feather Flock Together, to be released in 2021. It was recorded live at Diamond Mine Studios (Lady Gaga, Adele, The Black Lips) in Queens, NY. Shira and producer Paul Carbonara (Blondie), collaborated with an ace six-piece band, including Grammy-nominated drummer Dan Pugach, whom she met as a performer in New York’s vibrant theatre community. Together they created a live folk-acoustic sound so raw you could almost hear the wooden floors creaking under their feet. Shira calls her sound fairy-folk; infused with her sensational ukulele stylings, her music is reminiscent of powerhouse singer-songwriters like Ingrid Michaelson or Sara Bareilles.
