Lonely The Brave release video to “Open Door”
The band return today with a video for the third single from that record, “Open Door”, where the imagery is evocative in places of the first videos from the band, full of stark, human imagery and a sense of moving towards better things – a beam of positivity in contrast to the ongoing insecurities of the here and now in 2020.
Rita Wilson Shares New Single “What I Would Say”
“What I Would Say” further demonstrates Rita’s natural ability to tell authentic, universal stories through her songwriting. Lyrically the song addresses dealing with a loved one who is afflicted by addiction. Its uplifting tempo, jangly acoustic guitar and warm vocals lend optimism to the difficult subject matter. She sings, “I know just how to cry, won’t even have to try. I’ve practiced what to say when they say are you doing ok. Maybe I’d find some grace, say he’s in a better place. I hope I never have to find out what I would say.”
Hertfordshire based artist BYFYN (AKA Ellie Isherwood) releases synth-pop single ‘Ain’t Gonna Be Lonely’ today, the latest in a line of exhilarating, textured electronic vignettes. Developing a sound that calls to mind Grimes, Robyn, Chvrches or Let’s Eat Grandma, she takes glossy synths and re-purposes them through a LoFi filter to create something wholly unique in tone. This is matched with a well-defined aesthetic to create a tangible world of her own.
Chicago’s Judson Claiborne (Bill Callahan, Low Skies, Lower Dens) – Shares New Single & Announces EP
Inspired by the enchanting and androgynous voices of Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison which captivated him as a child, as well as the likes of R.E.M (Salveter’s sister was an early member of the band’s fan club and would receive phone calls and handmade memorabilia), Pixies and Rayman Carver novels, Salveter captures something pretty unique and starkly beautiful with his music. This new EP comes off the back of four previous releases – earlier material included a slew of noteworthy guests: members of Mute Duo, Tal National, Roommate, and Drag City Records signees – as Judson Claiborne which found the band opening for Bill Callahan, John Grant and Lower Dens. As Judson Claiborne, Christopher dials down the apocalyptic murder ballads and desert dirges of Low Skies to find something more reflective and in-tune with his storytelling nature (earlier tracks reference tree-dwelling bank robbers, a self-immolating anti-war activist, a disappeared marijuana trimmer amongst other characters).

Juanita Stein Releases Video For ‘L.O.T.F’ Snapshot Out October 23rd On Handwritten Records
Juanita Stein has released the video for ‘L.O.T.F.’ the most recent single from her forthcoming album entitled Snapshot. The clip is part of a series of videos done while under quarantine. Stein explains: “L.O.T.F is the third of the ‘lockdown video’ shoots I have made for the album. A few of us headed out to a deserted stretch of road nearby. The headlights of the truck, the misty night air, the insects flying in and out of frame projected the right energy for the track. L.O.T.F is me reflecting on a sun kissed childhood growing up in Australia. The endless starry skies, vast coastline, the distance between us and the rest of the world. All of this is tinged with a deep melancholy as I recall these years in my rear view mirror.”
The mood starts soft and somber. I’m cooped up in my apartment overthinking a connection I thought I had with someone. When the beat drops right after 1:13, the vibe entirely changes. Now it’s a catchy bop about not waiting around for that late night text.
