Los Angeles artist Model Child has shared the rattling, punch-drunk new song “Drain Me” off his debut album Dropout, which is now set to release on October 16. The indie-rock project of musician/songwriter Danny Parker, Model Child fuses his experience penning hooky pop songs with his taste for gnarly guitar-riffs and spiky, punk-laden drum beats. “Drain Me” is a scuzzy, sticky summer anthem that illustrates the thrilling, addictive feelings in the early days of a new crush. BlackBook featured the track this morning, hailing it as “all fuzzed guitars and jittery beats, recalling Elastica or perhaps a post-Britpop Blur. And it lyrically seems to both celebrate and lament a budding relationship that is perhaps as detrimental as it is irresistible, all delivered in Parker’s impish vocal aplomb.”

A soulful, elegantly crafted “Work With Whatcha Got” shows off the Bobby Deitch Band’s impressive, undeniable chops. Jason Rosenthal encourages people to use Aug. 30 – National Grief Awareness Day – as a time of reflection and gratitude. “The global pandemic has forced all of us to think deeply about what ‘loss’ means. Consciously or not, we are all grieving something,” says Jason. “It seems to me that focusing on what we are grateful for will go a long way towards having the fortitude to get through this crisis,” he says.
