Maya Maya was formed in 2017 when I met our guitarist, Tony Millar, and then, in 2019, our bassist, Scott Anstruther, joined the band.
“Cutting Teeth” as an expression means to gain experience of something by doing it and that is exactly what we have done with this EP. The EP consists of 4 songs: “Both Names”, “Lifeguard”, “Driving Range” and “Fever Pitch”.

Electronic duo Dear Humans release their latest single, Blinded: an emotionally-charged, melancholic anthem that blends the rich, soulful vocals of Alex Who? with the slick, deep beats of producer Corey Epstein to incredible effect.
Landing this August, Blinded is a meticulously crafted and deeply affecting record. Sitting somewhere between deep house and neo-soul, it conveys an extraordinary depth of feeling and crackles with a restrained intensity: both haunting and invigorating in equal measure.
‘WEIRDO’, a defiant pop album written over the course of a year spent sofa-surfing by Scottish artist Carla J Easton (TeenCanteen), is set to be released on August 28th on Olive Grove Records.
Following on from the critically acclaimed ‘Impossible Stuff’, which was shortlisted for Scottish Album of The Year 2019, Easton set to work writing and recording ‘WEIRDO’ with the help of Scott Paterson (Sons and Daughters) in CHVRCHES old basement studio in Glasgow. The pair met and became friends whilst playing in the live band for The Vaselines 2019 tour and began writing together after playing at The Boaty Weekender by Belle and Sebastian – a festival on a cruise ship around the Mediterranean.
The debut single by Kelsey Coleman, Nobody, proved to be a huge success around the world, nowhere more-so than in the UK and it is to everyone there who has supported her that she dedicates a genuinely heart-felt rendition of one of Warren Zevon’s most beautiful songs, Keep Me in Your Heart. Kelsey explains the choice of the song and the sentiment behind her message:
“In the world today with what’s occurring and with all the conflict and anger, Keep Me in Your Heart is a message about peace and love, which I think we all need more of. Christafari releases dramatic visuals for “So Will I” (100 Billion X) Hillsong Cover [Feat. Avion Blackman]
As trailblazers, Christafari is continually pioneering the genre of Gospel reggae in the U.S. and throughout the world. With their latest releases and music video “So Will I” the musicianaries wanted “to showcase the glory of creation. From painted skies to snowy mountains, giraffes to jellyfish, deserts to waterfalls, and caves to volcanoes, all of this beauty is projected on the canvas of God’s most magnificent creation – mankind. Let’s face it, Jesus didn’t die for the dolphins or desert camels. He died for us. And so we have chosen to live for Him.”
‘I made the song with, in my mind, the images I had after watching the episode “San Junipero” of the Netflix’ dystopia Black Mirror. Musically, I’ve also been inspired by the psych-pop of Caribou, and Odesza’s electro-pop. “Longing” is a love song that depicts the painful feelings which can arise from the complexity of telling the difference between real and fake. It has this message that, no matter real or fake, the beauty of something like a sea landscape won’t change.’ Koji Shibano
On “Longing”, the third track on Funny Factures’s debut EP “Fake City”, production and lyrics are handled by Yuto Uchino, frontman and self-producer of the indie band The fin. That might explain why “Longing” is much more on the pop side than other works from Funny Factures, with a single-tone synth melody that sticks so easily in your head.
Maxwell Stern Unveils New Single Featuring Laura Stevenson From Upcoming LP on Lauren Records
Lauren Records is unveiling a new single from Maxwell Stern’s debut solo album, Impossible Sum today. The track features Laura Stevenson and is titled “Left In The Living Room.”
It’s a song about past and present partnerships, and what it means to show gratitude to someone. Some days it’s effortless and other days you get so bogged down by the day-to-day that you forget to be thankful. As evidenced by the Weakerthans-influenced twang of “Left In The Living Room”, Impossible Sum really is different than anything Max has done before. It’s a departure from his emo and pop-punk roots; a collection of songs that exist outside of genre, as if he were contributing to the Great American Songbook.
