Emerging from the corners of the internet that few dare to tread, Freddie Dredd spins his darkest fantasies into intoxicating rap music. Over a Ryan C. production that mixes sliding, subsonic bass under a gravelly groaning sound that evokes a chorus of the damned, Freddie role plays as the ultimate evil, threatening lost souls with the prospect of eternal damnation: “Sacrificin’ to the demons, you know I love it when you screamin’,” croaks Freddie. We recorded it remotely, half of us in Ohio and half of us in New York. John was able to put our at-home recordings together and work some mixing magic. It’s definitely a product of quarantine- using what we had at home and working together, even just virtually.”

James Alphonse – “What Are We Doing Here”

In my last year of university, I had been looking for a serious relationship, but I kept meeting girls who just wanted flings. They would kind of treat me as an afterthought and it began getting frustrating. I wasn’t able to be direct and say how I felt, so this song reflects a very passive experience of this circumstance.

Danielle Ponder & Karate Boogaloo Drop New Single “Look Around” Out Now

New York singer and activist Danielle Ponder pairs up with Melbourne cinematic soul outfit Karate Boogaloo to deliver “Look Around,” a haunting reflection on the times we live in. “Look Around” was written in the studio with the band in the first days of 2020 when Danielle was in Melbourne, and at the time was conceived as a cry for help in the literal firestorm that was engulfing Australia. As 2020 progressed, the words that came in that moment of inspiration seemed to reflect each of the multiplying calamities this year has presented. When the death of George Floyd ignited indignation across the USA and the world, the lyrics to Look Around could not have been more apropos.

Chelsea Peretti shares new EP ft. Wale, Kathleen Hanna, Kid Mero, Reggie Watts, and more

The full length, set for release this Fall, was written and produced with Chelsea’s longtime collaborator Kool Kojak (Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj, Sean Paul, Weezer) and includes contributions from Juliette Lewis, Hannibal Buress, Patti Harrison, and Andy Milonakis. On its surface the full length is a powerful and inspired concept album about coffee, but as the listener follows Chelsea down a caffeinated rabbit hole they will find that “coffee” is simply a signifier for the choppy seas of addiction, the foam and flotsam of anxiety, loneliness, shame, and mortality. Coffee is everything.

Early Eyes Share New Track “Drawing Myself”

With the track, the band explores the notion that some emotions simply do not have words to go with them. “I have become obsessed with untranslatable feelings,” explains vocalist Jake Berglove. “The ones you get when you feel warm sand in your toes the first time you step on the beach. The kind-of-embarrassed-but-not-quite one you get while practicing your coffee order in your head before you get to the counter. And, of course, the feelings you get while stopped at a gas station in the dead of night while on a road trip. The senses of isolation, community, sonder, melancholy, and homesickness emulsify into a strange textureless mush of inexplicability. We wrote ‘Drawing Myself’ in an effort to render that road trip feeling as tangible.”
