Blending a hypnotic folk arpeggio with a drum machine beat and shoegaze flourishes, the track is an entrancing dismissal of a lost relationship. Silva explains: “‘You Were Bored’ is a letter to a forgotten friend. Sometimes friend break-ups are as difficult as losing a romantic partner.”

Of the song, Cobb shares, “To try and not infiltrate the listener’s spirit’s own interpretation of ‘Keep ‘Em On They Toes,’ I’ll just say that it was initially inspired by the birth of my son. With that said, it’s a mantra that I live by. One that I hope anyone could live by. That mantra is, if it’s good for your own heart, and you got a good heart, do it. Do it whether folks see it coming or not. Live your own life. Be happy.”
About the new EP, joan say cloudy is “an ep about seasons. created in the fall, introduced live in the winter, finished in the spring, released in the summer. we made “cloudy” to tell a story of one relationship and the fact that love can be messy but so beautiful. you know you shouldn’t be with them right now, but you *have* to be with them, right now. as we were finishing the record, we were forced to be in quarantine and spend more time at home. we both took to walking every evening, and would text each other pictures of the sky while doing it. it felt like the name for the ep had fallen in our laps after talking about it one day. clouds can create a beautiful or terrifying scene, they can bring refreshing rain or a destructive storm. when you see clouds, it’s probably not great at the moment, but it will get better. that’s what this ep is about – getting better, growth, loving harder, and learning from mistakes.”

“GEN-Z is inspired by a series of articles mentioning the high rates of suicide amongst the Gen-Z due to the pressures of social media. At the same time I read about several music companies not doing well due to lack of interest in people to learn to play instruments. When I was a kid, music and guitar was my escape. Music was how I fought through my depressions. What will the future do to get through it? With constant pressure to be perfect and information/advertisements and brainwashing constantly being shoved in your face, you become a product of your environment. GEN-Z is about being a slave to technology, specifically to our phones.” Sade Sanchez

This album shows how far they’ve come since their debut CD four years ago, which gained them a Latin Grammy nomination.
On the track, which is produced by LA based twins Two Fresh and G.L.A.M., Duckwrth once again instigates unpredictable and unprecedented genre alchemy. He threads together bouncy rhymes while G.L.A.M. fires back with a seductive counterpoint as their bars come together before the dancefloor-ready hook sung by Juliana Romana.
