Will Powers – “RIVERS”
My family owns a cottage on the French River, and in recent years I’ve become more aware of its history as an important trading route in early colonial times. I’ve often thought about the significance of us occupying that land, which is now a pristine provincial park.
Living in the twenty-first century amidst a pervasive ignorance of colonial history has pushed me to learn about the general circumstances that enabled us to be there today, and obliges me to convey a message of respect to that place.

Ekat Bork – ‘DRIVING MY MUSTANG’
A touch of positivity in this difficult period.
Stan Simon began writing songs at an early age in Toronto, Ontario crafting poignant melodies on a broken classical guitar from his father. Largely influenced by vintage folk and country records, Simon delivers earnest lyrics, sung with a vocal prowess, sharp harmonica and a rustic acoustic sound that resonates through your body. His upcoming third album, “Songs from Strange Places” contains classic storytelling and visceral songwriting reminiscent of the great poets and balladeers before him.
“This was the first song I wrote at the beginning of the break up of my marriage. It was just a few days after the lightning bolts hit in the those initial conversations. I have no idea where it came from,” explains Roby. “I picked up the guitar and started strumming and singing the pre-chorus and chorus one morning. Then it just churned in my head after that for a few days and I wrote the two verses. Three months later it was the first song Neal Casal heard of this batch of new songs that would become ‘The Reservoir’ album.”
