Speaking to them about the single, Nassif said, “The lyrics of this track were written by Fernanda Zerbini (visual artist) and I”, explains Nassif over email. “They came from notes she has in one of her sketchbooks. Her process of taking notes is very peculiar, she doesn’t use commas or punctuation. Whilst she is listening, she starts writing down the words that sound most interesting to her and ends up creating her own free-form narratives. So, I read her notes and started putting together the lyrics for “Santa”, changing things round a little bit whilst I was choosing the parts that I liked the most.

Marsicans unveil new video for single ‘These Days’

Speaking about the new video, frontman James Newbigging said, “The idea for the video was constantly evolving throughout the process. Due to lockdown measures, we couldn’t meet up to shoot the video so we had to film it individually ourselves; which for a song where the chorus is “I don’t wanna go outside” was rather fitting. Our aim was to show the disconnect between ourselves, technology, and the outside world. We set up our various tripods (and makeshift toilet roll tripods) in our homes and did our best. Our friend Phil at Sodium Films then edited the video together. He conjured up some magic camera trickery which involved filming the footage playing on different kinds of screens, a big lens and some Orwellian flavouring and turned a load of separate homemade clips into a video we really love.”

Twisted Pine’s New Album Right Now Out August 14th

On August 14th, their new album Right Now will hit shelves and streaming services worldwide. Today, American Songwriter premiered a music video for the album’s first single, “Don’t Come Over Tonight,” calling it a “bluegrass, indie folk-and-funk concoction.”
