EL-P’S CAPONE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE OUT NOW
El-P, the Grammy-nominated producer and rapper renowned as one half of Run The Jewels, has just released the Capone Original Motion Picture Score via Milan Records. The album features music written and produced by El-P and co-produced by his long time collaborator Wilder Zoby (Run the Jewels, Roma) for the new film starring Tom Hardy as the infamous gangster Al Capone. This marks El-P’s first complete film score since 2004’s Bomb The System, and arrives on the heels of score contributions to Fantastic 4 (for which El-P scored the end credits, which marked the beginning of his working relationship with Capone director Josh Trank) and 2016’s Bleed For This (directed by Ben Younger), as well as his contribution to the soundtrack for 2018’s Oscar winning Roma (directed by Alfonso Cuarón), and just ahead of the release of Run The Jewels’ feverishly anticipated fourth album RTJ4 (out June 5th). With Capone, El-P has stepped out as a new voice in the film music world with an emotive, tense, and beautiful score unlike anything he’s done before.

The band’s creative and vulnerable storytelling approach is launched through a black and white animation which ironically stars an unanimated, caricatured lead singer, Mitchy. Isolated inside at a desk looking at a photograph of friends (with plagues and awards on the wall behind him), the video presents a lesser talked-about reality as the country continues into extended stay-at-home orders—the secondary effects of isolation: feelings of depression, low self-worth and extreme loneliness.
