New > Jonah Yano Shares Single ‘shoes’

Today, Jonah Yano announces his debut album ‘souvenir’ and shares its first single ‘shoes’ featuring his father Tatsuya Muraoka. ‘souvenir’, out June 19th via Innovative Leisure, is the follow up to his critically lauded 2019 debut EP ‘nervous.’ With collaborations from talents like producers Monsune, Leland Whitty & Alexander Sowinski of BADBADNOTGOOD, and Jacques Greene, the 11-song collection touches on themes of family separation, healing, and reconciling with the past.

Jodi Essex – “Stand Up”

“Stand Up” acknowledges & empathizes that life is full of immeasurable disappointments. Yet, the song affirms that somehow in the midst of it all, we have something valuable planted by God inside ourselves to reach for. When we call on Him to lift us up & out of our worst despair + take ownership of where we are, there will be salvation & the most amazing grace, even in rough-and-tumble times. Be moved to “get up, stand up, & RISE.”

Marin Patenaude Signs to Dallas Green’s Still Records for ‘Sight Unseen’ LP

I came home to my cabin one night and the window above the kitchen sink was broken. I was freaked out and didn’t understand why, expecting there to be a wild animal hiding in my house somewhere, until I shone a flashlight on the dead grouse in the sink. The wind was howling through my kitchen, I had a broken heart, and felt alone in the world. I fixed the window with a clip-in storm panel and sat in the candlelight with my guitar and tried to calm my nerves. We’ve all had moments of feeling alone, wondering if a small change of action could’ve changed everything. I think allowing yourself to sit with those feelings, not try and fix them or pretend they don’t exist, but actually allow them, is a healthy way to move through painful experiences.

Jackboy’s “Cleaning Crew” Comes Equipped With Sticks Not Mops

Armed with a quick wit and a quicker trigger finger, Jackboy is fiercely protective of his Sniper Gang brethren. Flashing the unique sense of rhythm that makes him one of the game’s most chaotic and polished young rappers, the Pompano Beach, FL native shares “Cleaning Crew,” his latest single. Fitting his rapidfire rhymes between the notes of a snaking guitar melody, Jackboy compares his associates to a cleaning crew–but they’re armed with mopsticks, not mops, and they’ll mobilize at Jackboy’s command. Dripping with the taunting, confrontational demeanor that he exhibited in his recent social media back-and-forth with NBA YoungBoy, “Cleaning Crew” is Jackboy’s first new song since “Murda,” the sinister Casanova collab, and it will appear on Jackboy, the rapper’s new project coming later this month.

The Lazy Eyes share second single “Tangerine”

Balancing the band’s breezy, vintage pop-inspired melodies with a blistering guitar solo climax worthy of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the track covers a wealth of musical ground across its 3-minute runtime in a kaleidoscopic blur.

BENIGHTED Live Stream New Album ‘Obscene Repressed’ in Full

Drummer Kevin Paradis comments on the stream: “It’s with a lot of pride and excitement that we share this album with you! We can’t wait to have some feedback on our work, and I hope our music will bring you some brutal hours during these difficult times! As drummer of the band since their last EP, I have tried to bring some lightening fast blast beat and double bass drum, some groovy beats, intricate fills and polyrythms, but all of this with a punk spirit mandatory to Benighted Brutal Death Metal/Grindcore spirit!

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith shares warm hued album cut “The Steady Heart”

“The inspiration for this album came to me as a sudden burst of joy, a mixture of sound that I heard internally and shapes that I saw internally. Each shape represented a word. I created the album artwork by using my body to form these shapes. Together with the album cover and back shapes, they create a poem intended to be shared through images.” – Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith

Washed Out releases “Too Late” single + official video

Washed Out’s Ernest Greene was one of many artists who found themselves in a state of limbo last month after the widespread cancellations of live performances and unexpected travel restrictions. In Greene’s case, the first effect was canceling a long-planned music video shoot in Italy, where he was set to collaborate with an international team of filmmakers.

Public Body share jagged new post-punk single “Naughty On My Bike”

Over the last 12 months, Brighton’s Public Body have been steadily building themselves a reputation as an intriguing post-punk prospect, with a keen eye for detail. Putting modern life under their microscope, they pick over the minutiae of the day to day, and find a world that is either a) not paying attention or b) not listening to those that are. In their own mission statement, the band say they aim to “write the perfect soundtrack to whatever you do whilst procrastinating at your day job.” but it is their own sense of focus and direction that propels them into vivid new territory on new single “Naughty On My Bike”.

Houses of Heaven shares new single “In Soft Confusion” via CVLT Nation

Layering synths, guitars, electronic percussion, and live drums, Houses of Heaven fuses early industrial and techno rhythms with the melodicism of shoegaze and a heavy dose of dub-influenced effects. Formed in Oakland, California by Keven Tecon, Adam Beck, and Nick Ott, the band follows up the Remnant EP with their first full-length album titled Silent Places. Written against the backdrop of the Northern California wildfires, ever-growing tent cities and the continued rise of empty luxury housing in the Bay Area, the album explores the intimate experiences that transpire within the chaotic confines of modern living.

RG Lowe (Strand of Oaks, Western Vinyl) – Shares New Single, ‘Sendai, Unknown’

Rob says: This song intermingles historical and personal events of March 11th, 2011 as a metaphor for the distances between people. The Tōhoku earthquake of the coast of Japan near the city of Sendai was the 4th most powerful ever recorded; literally moving the planet of its axis and increasing its rotational speed. The Tsunami from the event reined havoc on Japan killing thousands and causing the meltdown of three reactors in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The following morning I was with a friend in Portland Oregon waiting as the waves from the Tsunami would hit the Pacific Coast of the United States, but they came in as little more than a set of small ripples. Looking back on this event from almost a decade ago I was struck with its illustrative significance for myself and my life.
